Marcia White receives the President’s Volunteer Service Award

News | 19 Apr 2021

Marcia White is a volunteer for CURE International. She first started volunteering with CURE in 2019 in the Grants department and has become a highly valued member of the team.

CURE receptionist Heidi Davis said, “Marica has been a gem! During the COVID-19 pandemic, Marcia continued to volunteer from home.  Marcia clocked 784.25 hours in the 2020 year alone!  Marcia is being recognized with the prestigious Presidential Volunteer Service Award, the gold medal for her hours completed in the year 2020.”

Marcia used her talents to aid the Grants team in preparing and researching for proposals. Josh Korn, CURE Director of Grants, Acquisitions, and Management, said, “Marcia’s professional experience as a healthcare practitioner, as well as her academic background in global health, and her passion for serving the underprivileged and sharing God’s love make her ideally suited to contribute to CURE’s mission. As a volunteer, she has been instrumental in helping the grants team as we prepare proposals and reports to donors, especially through her research on topics such as disability access/inclusion, global surgery, and community-based rehabilitation. We are very thankful for Marcia’s tireless efforts and grateful to have her on our team!”

The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes the importance of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. About CURE International

CURE International is a Christian nonprofit organization that operates a global network of pediatric surgical hospitals, which serve one of the world’s most marginalized and vulnerable populations – children with disabilities. Patients at CURE hospitals suffer from orthopedic, neurosurgical, and maxillofacial conditions that limit their mobility/functionality and opportunities for education and employment. In addition to world-class clinical service, CURE intentionally ministers to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients in its care and invests in training programs that aim to equip the next generation of health workers and strengthen national health care systems. Since inception, CURE has conducted more than 5.3 million patient visits and 330,000 surgical procedures around the world. For more information, visit https://cure.org/.
