About Lawrence
Lawrence grew up without his parents; his father was never in the picture and his mother passed away when he was only ten years old. He had a condition in both of his feet when he was younger, but when he came to us, he was only concerned about his right foot. His left one had apparently straightened out on it's own. When we asked him when the condition started, he had no idea. For him, it was moments like this that he wished his mother were still alive to shed some light on his history. “I don’t know for sure,” he told me, “but I have seen photos of myself when I was younger, when I was about three years and below, and I look normal in the photos." As he continued, he told us that by the time he was seven, both his feet looked deformed and it seemed he was walking on his toes. "I don’t know at what point my left foot became near normal again,” he concluded. Our hearts ached listening to him scan his memories for what little was there.
For now, Lawrence can only speculate on whether or not his mother got him treatment for his left foot before being able to do the same for his right. When his mother died, Lawrence went to live with his grandmother, who has never had the means to care or investigate any kind of treatment for him. As a result, he adapted to the condition and never thought that anything could be done about it. It was only one week prior to meeting us that he bumped into a women who did in fact tell him their was a treatment for him. In his words, “She stopped me from my way home from church and told me she knew people who could heal my condition. I was in complete and utter shock. I knew at that point that it was God’s intervention. That he was going to use these people she talked about to change my life."
Lawrence had so many questions for our doctors. But other than that, it was obvious that he was excited at the prospects of finally getting treatment. For now, funds are standing between him and treatment. But I know with combined efforts, we can make this happen for him. He is making the most of his situation now, and I can only imagine how much more he can do with a life free from a treatable condition!

JSON RSS- Day 21Lawrence's treatment date has been changed to 01/30/2013 - So, the lady who had brought Lawrence to us the first time round was around, but Lawrence was not with her. Apparently Lawrence's aunt was not too optimistic about his connections so she is still a bit hesitant about him getting the surgery. The only thing we can do from our end is pray that she will have a change in mind and give him the support that he needs to get this done. So, lets be praying.
