Yet I Will Rejoice!

“Because of this virus, I cannot feed my family anymore,” Razak Abdoul Karim says. He’s a father and husband who makes a living washing clothes or running errands here in Niamey. Since COVID-19 is highly contagious, his family doesn’t want him to go out, and when he does, there’s no work. “People think I’ll contaminate […]

Happy Easter from CURE Niger!

by on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 6:00 am

This week, our spiritual director has been telling the story of Easter during our morning devotion time. Each day, she has added a piece to the story, which has been great because she’s such a good story teller and the kids (and mothers) have been listening attentively all week, leaning in towards the end of each meeting […]

Holy Week in the Philippines

Here is a glimpse of life in the Philippines during the week leading up to Easter. The Philippines are predominantly Roman Catholic. To honor Christ’s sacrifice, school, malls, and most of the businesses are closed. Here are some altar boys preparing for the processional walk early in the morning to help out the priests as they commemorate […]

by on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 12:49 pm

Passion Week is a major holiday time in the Philippines. Most stores and malls were closed on Thursday and Friday. People return to their home areas or take off for a special time away. The Tebow CURE team had a special time as well. We took Thursday to have a spiritual time of retreat and a day of quiet. Jana shared the Easter story from the point of view of Barabbas

Mead Minutes: Back in Kenya!

by on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 3:00 pm

We live in the exciting resurrection times. We are called to serve others and to love others as Christ has loved us. We are part of the process of restoration as we await the day when Christ returns. All other holidays pale in importance. Christ came to earth for us all. Christ died for us all. Christ rose from the dead and lives for us all!

A “sunrise service” at CURE Zambia

by on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 3:00 pm

Many of us enjoy the tradition of attending a sunrise service on Easter morning. This year, we’d like to invite you to a “sunrise service” of sorts at CURE Zambia. We hope the reading of Isaiah 53, paired with the visual of morning bursting from darkness to light, gives you a moment to pause and reflect on the joy of our Risen Savior on this Resurrection Sunday.

Mead Minutes: Acts of Service

Preparing for overseas travel does take some thought and work. We are going to the CURE Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya, first. Two weeks later, we board another flight and will travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to visit the CURE Hospital there. We can obtain a visa upon arrival in Nairobi, but I need a special type of visa for my time in Ethiopia. Of course many other details come into play for the trips.

Mead Minutes: Rebirth

Happy Easter!! He is risen!! Easter is the time of great celebration for me. Easter is a rock in the path of many. Easter is merely another time of candy and silly ads for others. In Michigan, Easter is a time of rebirth of the land, as flowers poke through the soil, trees swell their […]

CURE Zambia Hosts First Annual Egg Hunt

by on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 1:39 pm

It has been a while since I last wrote you all, and much as happened since our big visit from the President of Zambia.  On the Saturday of Easter weekend, CURE Zambia hosted its first annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Children and their parents from all over Lusaka — including all the patients from the hospital […]

Happy Easter

by on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 5:11 pm

As we head into the Easter weekend, we’d like to share a story we just received from Derek Johnson, our executive director in Uganda: For the past two weeks, a visiting plastic surgeon, Dr. Philip Metz, has provided cleft lip and palate surgeries to patients at the CURE Uganda hospital. One of these patients was […]
