Peter Ssenyonga

Senior Neurosurgeon / Uganda

Dr. Peter Ssenyonga serves as a Senior Neurosurgeon at CURE Uganda. Peter received his medical training at Mbarara University of Science and Technology in the western part of Uganda. After his internship at the Mulago National Referral Hospital, he worked as a medical officer with CURE Uganda for three and a half years under Dr. Ben Warf before doing his neurosurgery training at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. He was awarded the Pediatric Neurosurgery Traveling Fellowship by the Pediatric Section of the AANS (American Association of Neurological Surgeons) and spent 3 months at the Neurosurgical Department at The Hospital For Sick Children, Toronto. He also serves as faculty at the African Pediatric Neurosurgery Course.

Peter is married to Lydia who is still in South Africa completing a Masters Degree in Nursing. Together, they have three lovely girls. When he is not at the hospital, he serves at his local church. He loves reading, following sports, watching movies, and listening to gospel music.

Abby is the CURE Storyteller in Uganda. Her background is in environmental sustainability and global health, so she gets really excited about practical solutions for a healthier planet and healthy people. She loves learning people’s stories and has lived in Texas, China, London, and Benin. Getting to make new friends and share snapshots of what God is up to in their lives is a dream job for her!
