Meet Charlene! A bundle of fun that enjoys life to the fullest. She contracted an infection in her left leg while learning to walk. After seeing a doctor, she had to have surgery, but the infection was so deep in her left knee that it healed incorrectly. Now she uses a raised shoe to walk when out and about but limps around the house as she plays. Charlene and her mother are here at CURE Zimbabwe waiting for her to have corrective surgery on her leg. Help us welcome them to CURE Zimbabwe!
"Panenyasha is a very special little girl. Children like her are the very reason for CURE Zimbabwe," Dr. Rick exclaimed. We are glad to report Panenyasha is doing a lot better! So much so, Dr. Rick has cleared her to return home this weekend. Mommy Tamary is over the moon with Panenyasha's turnover, and so are we! Thank you all for keeping Panenyasha in your thoughts and prayers. And keep up the support as we stand with her in prayer for healing. We look forward to seeing Panenyasha back at the hospital in a few weeks' time.
We bumped into Ashley during outpatient clinic at CURE Zimbabwe yesterday. He is looking well and his x-rays show he has recovered very well from corrective surgery. MaNgu (nurse) carefully checked and dressed the operation site after removing the two metal pins that were holding his bones in place (a mildly uncomfortable procedure that can be done in the outpatient procedure room. Before he knew it, he was on his way home with just a dressing over his elbow. Thank you for your continued support for Ashley, and please keep him in your prayers for a full recovery.
Post-op recovery was an uphill climb for Panenyasha, but she powered through. She spent the weekend in the ICU room in our ward, with the care of nurses and doctors at her side around the clock. We are glad to report she has returned to her regular bed in the ward. Before she did, child mentor Grace prayed with Mommy Tamary and Panenyasha as she drifted back into sleep after being administered medication. We are so grateful, not only for the support of our team at CURE Zimbabwe but for you who are praying for and keeping Panenyasha in your thoughts during this time. Please continue to support Panenyasha as she continues her recovery before heading home!
The windy and cold day was warmed by the familiar smile of a certain, even though it was missing a tooth or two! Kayla was at outpatient clinic this morning for a check up. The doctor sent her to get x-rays done and was please with how her bone is healing well. Now Kayla is waiting for her KAFO (knee, ankle, and foot orthoses) at Bulawayo Orthopedic Center to help keep her leg straight as she continues healing. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for Kayla, please continue to keep praying for Kayla's complete healing.
