“Some people were discouraging me to bring her to the hospital,” shares Florence, mother to Memory.

Memory is a three year old girl which had been healthy without any disability until things suddenly changed early this year when her legs started bending awkwardly inside on the knee. Florence was bothered by this development and in trying to find answers for her daughter's sudden development, she took Memory to a nearby hospital. She was assessed by the physiotherapist at the local hospital where they said there was no need to worry and that she will get better over time. As months passed by the opposite became reality, her legs were becoming severe and affecting Memory. “When she walks a long distance her legs start to pain and when she tries to run, the knees touch each other and she falls down,” shared Florence.

The severity of Memory’s leg forced Florence to look for another bigger hospital within the province. Thankfully at the bigger hospital they were referred to CURE Zambia. However, Florence was somewhat hesitant to come to Lusaka because she thought that her daughter’s surgery would cost a lot of money and they were other members of the community who were saying that if her legs are tempered with, her problem it would become worse. It was Memory's father who insisted that his daughter needed medical attention and Memory is here with now her mother Florence! Please join us in praying for their healing journey!

Memory is recovering well from the surgery! She went to the OR and they did two quick procedures on both legs. They have put a plate on each leg, which will be correcting her legs over time. Because the procedures were not intensive, our young girl is already awake just a few hours after the surgery. She is now under observation! Photo of Memory
