We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Goodluck. When you give a gift through Goodluck's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Zambia. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. “It is the work of God that we have come to (CURE Zambia)” says Liness, Goodluck's grandmother.

Goodluck's leg began to alarmingly swell earlier this year and when he was taken to the local hospital, Liness found out he had broken his leg. The swelling initially went down while they were at the hospital, but the staff opted to treat Goodluck's broken leg by tying it to the bed. It's unclear what exactly and why this was done, but what is clear is that Goodluck's leg got worse instead of better and developed a dangerous infection. After three months in the hospital, Goodluck was discharged and Liness was told she needed to find another hospital to help them. Liness left confused and scared. She had brought Goodluck to the only hospital she knew. But with Goodluck in constant pain and pus beginning to seep out of his infected leg, she knew she needed to do something. Their family couldn't afford the local bus so Liness and Goodluck decided to hitchhike and ask the driver to drop them off in any big town that might have another hospital.

Thankfully, there was another hitchhiker from the city near CURE Zambia in the truck. This woman was able to direct Liness and Goodluck's aimless search towards us here. In their moment of desperate need, Liness and Goodluck were provided with exactly what they needed. Some may attribute this to good luck, but Liness firmly gives the credit to God!

Excitingly, Goodluck had his surgery! Dr. Maweja corrected the bone which has been causing all the trouble for months now. He then thoroughly cleaned the wound in an effort to eradicate the infection. Infections can be tricky so only time will tell what else may need to be done. Goodluck will have follow up bandages changes and wound cleanings in the days to come so please keep your prayers coming as there is still work to do! Photo of Goodluck
