Everyone who serves with CURE in Zambia, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Enerst. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Enerst. When you give a gift through Enerst's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Zambia. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. For close to ten years, serious knee pain has been a permanent part of Enerst's life. Everline, his mother, tells us that Enerst’s condition became visible when he was just five years old. She thought it was strange considering he is the third born in their family and the first one to experience this condition. In an attempt to find a solution for the Enerst's knock knees, he was taken to a local health centre, where casts were put on his legs. Sadly, there was no follow up as the person who had treated him retired with no replacement. Even more frustrated and out of options, Enerst's family gave up.

This grade ten pupil hasn’t had it easy at school either. He has to walk a great distance to school every day which results in flashing pain in his knees. “The distance to school is long and sometimes by the time I get to school my knees would be paining. Other times when I get out, because of staying on the desk for too long, I struggle to start walking back home and when I walk I would be limping. If I get lucky, sometimes well wishers carry me on their bicycles,” Enerst describes.

One day, Enerst was coming back from school, when a parent who had brought their child for treatment here to CURE Zambia saw him and shared with him that we can treat his condition. She was able to introduce him to a local organization we partner with in their area. Through that organization, transport arrangements were made and Enerst has made it here to us where we will straighten his legs and send him home walking proudly!

When the crutches were first handed to Enerst, we thought he might struggle to walk with them but he proved us oh so wrong! He held them and instantly started walking like a pro. As such, Enerst has been discharged! He will come back for a review and possibly a second surgery next month. Please keep on praying for Enerst's healing! Photo of Enerst

Enerst isn't complaining of any pain post op which is always great to hear! His mother Everline tells us he slept well. Crutches have been ordered and our physical therapists have taken his measurements. We have a partner here at CURE Zambia with a workshop who make the crutches to fit these children precisely. When he gets his custom crutches, he will start physical therapy to train on how to walk with them! Photo of Enerst

Enerst will need a minimum of two surgeries to fully correct his legs. Excitingly Dr. Moyo did Enerst's first surgery today, working on his right leg! Once this leg fully heals, Enerst will have his second surgery on his left leg. He is currently recovering from the surgery. Please be praying for Enerst! Photo of Enerst
