“My fear is that the problem may be bigger, as he grows older,” shared Estella, Brighton's mom.

Brighton comes from a very remote part of northern Zambia, an area were orthopedic specialist treatment is far fetched and because of the that his parents never attempted to take him to the hospital for his condition of knocked knees. They believed and were convinced that there was no treatment for his condition. “I thought he would never be healed, hence I never took him to the hospital,” recalled Estella.

Estella told us that that Brighton’s legs appeared to be fine when he was still young but sadly after some months of him making his first steps, his legs started abnormally bending inwards at the knees. At first glance, it did not cause any concern as everyone thought he would eventually get better and grow out of it. As the young Brighton was grew older, his legs said otherwise and continued to get worse.

Because of the continued increase in deformity of Brighton's legs, his mother started getting worried. His knees touch each other and sometimes when he is walking, it causes him pain. Estella has lived with this worry and came to a place of hopelessness because she thought her four year boy would never get healed.

One day when they were listening to a local radio station, they heard that there would be a team that would be visiting from Lusaka, attending to kids with different orthopedic conditions. In the advertisement there was mention of the conditions our doctors would be looking at and Estella's hope was renewed when she heard that Brighton’s knocked knees was among the mentioned conditions! She took him to the mobile clinic and Brighton was booked to come for surgery at CURE Zambia. Please join us in praying for Brighton's healing and that Estella's renewed hope will strengthen her for his healing journey ahead!

A double update for you today: Brighton had his surgery and everything went fantastically! Estella is so happy what they've been praying for for so long has finally happened! The doctors then checked in with Brighton this morning and are thrilled with how he's handling himself post surgery. They said he can go home. We have an outreach team from CURE Zambia going out to the part of Zambia where Brighton lives so he's going to hitch a lift home with them and we'll see him back here in a few weeks!
