“When Mecah was born she was just fine, then after three days the left leg got swollen all of a sudden,” shared Loveness, Mecah's grandmother.

Mecah is a seven year old girl and first child to her mother. She has come to CURE Zambia for treatment of severe genu varus, othewise known as bowed leg. Her grandmother Loveness brought her because Mecah's mother has a baby at home told us that three days after after this beautiful girl’s birth they noticed her leg swelling so they took her to the local hospital. She was admitted and the swollen leg was showing signs of infection. They were at the hospital for a month until the infection stopped and she was later discharged. Our young Mecah started walking when she was about eight months and she seemed to be walking perfectly, but then when she was around two years old, her left leg slowly started bending outside just below her knee. They took her to the hospital and were given some medications and told to go continue treatment from home.

As she was growing older, her leg continued to get worse to the extent that it got worrying for the family. “When she turned four years old and her leg became more bent we took went her to the hospital again but they told us there is nothing that could be done to assist her. They said if the problem was on the knee they would help, they only help they could render was to write a referral letter to Lusaka and we said we will go back when we find transport money to Lusaka,” narrated Loveness.

They however stayed for years without finding a solution for Mecah, but in time and by God's grace, a mobile clinic was held at their local hospital. Mecah was seen by our CURE doctors and her family's long standing puzzle on how to help their daughter was answered and she is now here for surgery! Kindly join us in praying for Mecah's healing!
