"After giving birth to my baby, the nurses told me I had to go to the University Teaching Hospital because my baby had clubfoot. I did all they asked me to do even if they didn't help me. I didn't know much about clubfoot. This made me unhappy because I didn't know what I was dealing with. I was eventually sent to CURE Zambia where I learned everything I needed to know about clubfoot. I'm glad my son will get the help he needs. Also, I live quite close to CURE, this will help me get there as often as I need to," Felistus told us as she shared her story with us. Join us in praying for Chrispin's healing!
Chrispin is doing well. The doctors think today will the his last cast and then he'll go in for a tenotomy! His mom Felistus is also doing well and is happy that her son is making good progress. Please pray that Chrispin keeps getting better and that he and his mom will be ready for surgery if Chrispin is ready for that next step!
Felistus brought her son back today for his cast change. Chrispin has fared well during this past week and is making good progress! Felistus was also smiling today. This is the first time we have seen her smile. Her son's improvement is having a great effect on her! Her spirits are high in joy. Please be praying for Felistus and her baby Chrispin, that the right people will continue to surround her and encourage her on her baby's healing journey.
Felistus came back to CURE with her baby today for his second cast. He has fared well in the past week! Pastor Lubasi took some time to talk to Felistus just to get a feel of how things are going at home. He found out that Felistus doesn't have a support system and that she doesn't interact much with other people right now. Pastor Lubasi also discovered that Felistus hides her son's condition from most people. He asked her what people say to her when she leaves home every Friday to go to clubfoot clinic or when people see casts on his legs. She says she doesn't give an answer for where she goes and also hides her son's body so well that it's impossible to see his casts. Pastor Lubasi encouraged Felistus to develop friendships with people that she can trust enough to share her son’s condition with. He also encouraged her to connect with people at her church that can encourage her and help her become more comfortable with her son’s condition. Felistus says she will lean into Pastor Lubasi's advice and we hope to hear that she has more support in the next couple of weeks. On a happier note, Felistus is excited about her son's progress and she can for sure see a change in his little feet. This is a source of joy! Please be praying for Felistus’ heart and that she would find the right people that can walk with her though her son’s journey of healing, friends that will hold her up and carry her, helping raise her spirit and keeping her believing that things will get better.
Felistus can't stop looking at her son. His feet, even though in a cast, already look better than when she first came! This is encouraging for Felistus. Please be praying for Felistus and her son Chrispin as they embark on the healing journey!
Felistus came to CURE today for the first time. She had no idea what she was dealing with having a son with clubfoot, but coming to CURE was encouraging because the counselors ran her through everything she needed to know. She is most happy about the fact that her son's disability can be corrected and that now she has more knowledge about clubfoot than when she first came. Here, Axion our clubfoot counselor is talking to Felistus about her son's disability.
