"I was very much concerned when my baby's milestones slowed down. Friends and family told me not to worry, that my baby was just weak and slow but would eventually cope up. I highly doubted their words," said Innocent, a mother of three with Alocious being her third. Innocent was desperate and relentlessly looked for ways to help her baby. "I also noticed that his head was steadily increasing in size and it was becoming heavy each day, then I knew it all had to do with the size of the head as he could barely sit," Innocent explained. Her friends asked her to try local herbs which of course didn't work and others just told her to ignore it and that her baby would grow up normally but with a slightly oversized head.
Innocent didn't give up, she eventually reached out to the doctor who helped out on the day of delivery. "The doctor checked my baby and told me that he was perfectly normal, I lifted my head and looked at him with my jaws dropped and eyes widened, clearly doubting his professionalism." The doctor knew he needed to do better so he called in his colleagues and one of them was quick to see that little Alocious had hydrocephalus, a condition where the brain produces excess fluid than the body can drain causing the head to grow bigger in size. She was told to come CURE Uganda for treatment. "I told my husband there was finally hope and he was very excited," said Innocent. "On my way, I was scared thinking I would be seen differently but was surprised to find that I was not alone and others had even worse," Innocent added. Our doctors are running tests before they can book little Alocious for surgery. "I am really happy to finally know what is wrong with my baby and that there is hope for him to get better," said Innocent. Please join us in prayer for baby Alocious and Innocent as they start their healing journey.

"I am so happy that my son made it out of the operating room and into the ICU. It's just too overwhelming," Innocent told us with a subtle smile while gazing upon the beauty of her little fighter. Aloysious will be kept in the general ward until he fully recovers. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. Keep praying that there will be no more complications. Photo of Aloysious

Aloycious is undergoing surgery to treat his hydrocephalus. The medical team prayed before the surgery putting everything in the hands of God. An ETV procedure was performed, a process of creating a pathway for the excess fluid just beneath the brain. After surgery, he will be taken to the ICU to be closely monitored before he is taken to the general ward for recovery. Let's pray that there will be no complications and that Aloycious will heal properly because through His stripes we have been healed. Photo of Aloysious

Innocent having a motherly moment with Aloysious, kissing his chubby chicks as he giggled. "He's a very handsome boy," our nurse complimented and Innocent blushed it off. We are waiting for the test results, then the doctors will decide from there. So far, so good. Please pray that there will be no infections that may hinder surgery. Photo of Aloysious
