Everyone who serves with CURE in Uganda, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Bertha. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.
We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Bertha. When you give a gift through Bertha's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Uganda. Have more questions? Ask us.
Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!
When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Bertha. We call it being a CURE Hero!
Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

"I was so excited when I got to know that I was expecting twins," Agnes spoke with such pride. She successfully gave birth to a boy and a girl. "I was not happy to hear that my little girl had a problem though. I told the doctors to do whatever they can to save her." Little Bertha was found to have spina bifida, a condition in which the spine fails to develop properly forming a sacklike tissue on the back. If untreated it can lead to serious complications even possibly leading to death. Thankfully, the doctors immediately referred Agnes and Bertha here to CURE Uganda. "I have always heard of CURE and had never thought I would ever visit, but here I am today. I was warmly welcomed and shown love." This was Aggie's first pregnancy and she had to go through a lot of counseling. Little Bertha is scheduled to have a surgery soon. Please pray and encourage them as they begin their healing journey!
Latest Updates
Bertha's Spina Bifida tumor was eventually removed successfully, and she was discharged from the hospital. Thank you so much for your prayers, support, and words of encouragement. They are expected to visit us again a few weeks from now. Please continue praying for complete healing while they are at home.
Hallelujah! Little Bertha has been discharged from the intensive care unit. "I thank God for taking us out of that room with loud beeps and so much suspense," Agnes spoke with a deep sigh of relief. Bertha will stay in the ward for some time while she is closely monitored before she is taken for her surgery. Please continue to pray that there will be no more complications as she continues her journey to full recovery.
Little Bertha woke up this morning with pale skin. She was immediately rushed to the ICU for blood transfusion and close monitoring. Her surgery won't be possible until she is stable enough. "No matter what, I am strong and I know God will heal my daughter."- Agnes affirmed. Let's stand in prayer and believe together with Agnes in the healing and recovery of little Bertha.
