Little Miracle was born with spina bifida and first came to CURE Uganda when she was just 12 hours old! Thankfully, the hospital where she was born knew about CURE Uganda and was able to refer her to us quickly. She couldn't have surgery right away, so she and her mom, Esther came back again when she was just 4 days old. Her family lives close to CURE Uganda and were able to come back easily.

This little first-born baby has a family that loves her a lot, including her mom Esther, her dad Nelson, and her aunt Rachel. In fact, Aunt Rachel was the one who gave her the name Miracle. Rachel has been faithfully visiting Esther and Miracle in the hospital and providing a lot of support and encouragement for her sister and her new niece.

While Miracle has had a pretty dramatic start to life, we know that God is watching over her. While her parents were surprised to learn that she has spina bifida, they love her a lot and are doing a great job caring for her - and Aunt Rachel is too! Every baby is a miracle, and we know that she is no exception! Thank you for praying for Miracle and her family as they continue on their journey together.

Miracle is heading home today! The medical team checked on her during morning rounds and because her back is healing so well, neurosurgeon Dr. Wegoye gave the official go-ahead for her to be discharged. We'll see her again in a couple weeks for a checkup appointment. Esther attended worship this morning in chapel with the CURE staff before getting ready to go, along with Aunt Rachel! Thank you for your continued prayers for this sweet little girl and her family. Photo of Miracle

Miracle's dad came to check on her and mama Esther today! Because space at the hospital is limited, we only have room for one caregiver, but we welcome other family members to come visit. Miracle is doing really well and she and Esther will move from the ICU back to the main ward today. She has such a loving and supportive family! Photo of Miracle

Miracle had her surgery today! The OR team, working together, was able to repair her spina bifida birth defect. At CURE Uganda, the medical teams pray for each baby right before they begin their operation. Today, Nurse Moses prayed for little Miracle, for her healing, and for comfort for her family. After recovering in the post-anesthesia care unit, Miracle was transferred to the ICU where she's getting the best of care with mama Esther right near by. Photo of Miracle

There was a party going on at Miracle's bedside yesterday! Her mom Esther, Aunt Rachel, and their friend Anifa were all visiting with her. She definitely has a great support team! Miracle is fighting a skin infection, so she's getting some antibiotics for that while she waits for her surgery. The doctors checked on her this morning during morning rounds, and she should hopefully be having surgery later this week! Photo of Miracle
