“When I was eight and a half months pregnant, I did an ultra sound scan and it showed that my baby has hydrocephalus," Salome shared with us. "Some people advised me to have an abortion, but my heart was not at peace with that idea, so I went to seek advice from my father who told me not to do it." Eventually, Salome's decision to keep her baby resulted in her husband leaving.
She gave birth to her baby through a c-section and was surprised and excited when she saw her baby, thus naming her Miracle. “She was very beautiful. She looked at me and my heart melted. She was alive and breathing well." When her husband left, Solome moved back home with her parents. She lived with them for a little while and then her mother decided to rent a single room for her where she currently lives with her two children: Miracle, and her older sister. Solome operates a small grocery store, selling a variety of vegetables. This helps her earn some money to take care of her kids. Miracle and Salome are now at CURE Uganda awaiting Miracle's surgery.
