“From the time I gave birth to him he hasn’t been very healthy,” Carol shared. She gave birth to her son Sharif at a government health center and was told that the baby was healthy enough to go home but Carol had already noticed that her baby wasn’t feeling well. He was very irritable, so she decided to go to a bigger hospital but wasn’t helped there either. When she got home one of her friends who agreed with her that baby Sharif wasn't fine, also told her about CURE Uganda hospital. Carol and her husband Ismail decided to bring baby Sharif to CURE immediately and they finally have gotten some answers, Sharif has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Sharif has one sibling who is five years old. Carol hasn’t been able to work in her salon because now her priority is taking care of Sharif. Ismail is working as a painter and also taking care of their first born back at home. Please join us in praying for Sharif's healing and his family!

“When Sharif got fevers and convulsions I got so scared and decided to bring him back,” Carol said. He had several blood tests which came back clear, so the only concern is the seizures. He has been given anti-seizure medication which he will start today and continue at home. Carol did say that she is happy with the decrease in the size of his head. Please continue praying for him! We got some great news this morning, Sharif’s blood tests all turned out negative which mean he can be completely discharged and is going home! He will be reviewed at the end of next month at a mobile clinic in Kampala and we can't wait to see his progress. Please be praying for him to have good health!

“Sharif has been crying a lot. I think he is in pain,” Carol said. He has been sent to the labs for tests to be done to ascertain why he is irritable and having fevers. The good news is that he is feeding well and isn’t vomiting. His head had also reduced in size and Carol is happy about that. Please keep this little one in your prayers! Photo of Sharif

Baby Sharif is doing really well! He was transferred back to the ward from the ICU today and was sleeping peacefully when we came by to check on him. Mama Carol assured us that he's eating again and everything is good! We're so glad that Sharif is recovering so well, and thank you for your prayers. Photo of Sharif

"The ETV/CPC was successful. Let us now pray and wait for what happens next," said Nurse Goretti. Sharif is now in PACU recovering and will be transferred to ICU. Whenever we saw Carol she would ask us, “have you seen him, how is he?” and we encouraged her that Sharif will be fine. Please be praying that he stays stable through the night and that the ETV/CPC works well. Photo of Sharif

Carol says she is loving it at CURE Uganda because the nurses and doctors are very friendly. Sharif already got his cerebrospinal fluid tapped and sent to the labs. Carol says that ever since Sharif was tapped, he has been less irritable. This morning pastor Winnie from our spiritual department ministered to Carol and we're happy to tell you that she has given her life to Christ! Please be praying for baby Sharif as he awaits surgery and for Carol's new faith to grow! Photo of Sharif
