CURE in Uganda

The picture above is of CURE in Uganda. Everyone who serves with CURE in Uganda, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Helen. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Helen. When you give a gift through Helen's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Uganda. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Helen. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“When I produced her, she was healthy, and she started to feed immediately. We noticed that her head was increasing in size when she was just a few weeks old, but we were a little bit hesitant to take her to hospital because we thought that she was just increasing weight. It is my sister-in-law who told us that it is a medical condition and that we shouldn’t waste any time,” Rashida said. She immediately took Helen to a government hospital but unfortunately nothing much was done to help Helen but she heard about an NGO which helps children with special needs and it is from there that our team of doctors who had gone for a mobile clinic identified Helen and referred her to CURE Uganda. Back at home, Helen has three siblings who are all healthy. Her father Gonzaga and her mother Rashida are both in business selling used clothes, so her children spend most of day at school and their father takes care of them when he is back from work. “I am a Muslim, but my husband is a Christian and his church members came home and prayed for Helen and I know that their prayers will work because there is one God in this world,” Rashida said. Please be praying for Helen as we prepare her for surgery!

Today is Helen’s second day after her ETV/CPC procedure and she is responding well! She is feeding well too. “Her head is not as soft as it was before the surgery, I can feel like it is getting normal and she no longer cries as much as she used to,” Rashida shared. They were discharged this morning and will be reviewed in March at a mobile clinic in Kampala. Please be praying for them for safe travels back home and for continued improvement in Helen’s health! “She (Helen) cried a little bit in the night but this morning she has been calm,” Rashida said. She spent her morning doing her laundry and also called her husband to update him about Helen’s condition. Helen will be transferred back to the ward where she will be monitored by the nurses. Please continue praying for her and her mother Rashida! Photo of Helen

Baby Helen went into surgery this afternoon for an ETV/CPC which was successful. While Helen was in surgery, Rashida and another mother named Maureen spent time chatting about family and encouraging one another. “We kept saying to each other that our children will live and not die,” Rashida said. Baby Helen will spend the night in ICU and if all goes well tonight then she will be transferred back to the ward. Please be praying for her and her mother Rashida! Photo of Helen
