“I am praying that the baby may be okay,” said Maria. Shortly after Maria gave birth to her first child Alamanzan, she noticed his skin was yellow and his head was soft so she took him to a near by health clinic which referred them to a hospital. Alamanzan didn’t get any treatment or improve. So they went back home for six months. Then, Maria heard about Katalemwa Cheshire Home which is a partner to CURE Uganda. She took Alamanzan there and were referred to CURE, but they weren't able to make it here for nearly a year. “I have been seeing the veins in the head,” said Maria. After returning home a lady in their village gave Maria some local herbs for Alamanzan, unfortunately they did not help. Two days ago Maria received a phone call, “A lady called me and said I will help,” said Maria. That day Maria and Alamanzan traveled to CURE Uganda, and were admitted. Maria had only seen one other child with Alamanzan’s condition prior to coming to CURE. Once here, she has felt happy being around other families with children similar to Alamanzan. Maria now lives with her mother who has been supportive and loves Alamanzan very much. Please join us in praying for and encouraging Alamanzan and Maria while they are here for healing!
Alamanzan got to go home on Saturday! We will see Alamanzan again at a follow up clinic at the end of January. Please keep Alamanzan in your prayers that he will recover well from his surgery.
Spiderman is Alamanzan’s new name given to him by the nursing staff due to him climbing all over the hospital! Wednesday night he was a climbing on his bed in the ward and fell off it. The ICU’s beds where he spent last night are like cribs which were able to keep Spiderman in. Yesterday’s operation went smoothly and Alamanzan’s recovery is going very well, he is active and playful trying his best to escape the confines of his crib. He has befriended a few of the ICU nurses who gave him an inflated glove which they have been playing catch with. Maria is feeling relieved, she is happy the operation is over and is no longer stressed. Maria would like prayer for Alamanzan, “Pray for the child to get well and maintain his milestones."
“I’m very worried,” said Maria. Alamanzan is currently in surgery where Dr. Peter is performing an ETV/CPC. In a few hours Alamanzan should be transferred to the ICU where he will be reunited with his mother. Immaculate from the spiritual department met with Maria today and she counseled her and tried to encourage her. “I prayed that the child would grow up well and the surgery would go well, and that they would go home with a testimony,” said Immaculate. Please join Immaculate in praying for Alamanzan that his operation will be successful and for him to have a swift recovery!
On Monday, Alamanzan and Maria arrived at CURE Uganda and were admitted. Alamanzan had a CT-scan and blood work done, his doctors are reviewing his scan and making a plan. Maria has settled into the hospital and has made a couple of friends already! Please be praying for Alamanzan and for his healing!
