Agulance is a peasant farmer who lives just a few kilometers from CURE Uganda. She has been married twice and has given birth to a total of eight children. Her first marriage was abusive with violence and it ended up in a divorce. Her ex-husband decided to keep their four children and for two years, Agulance lived with her parents until she met Moses. Her relationship with Moses developed into marriage and they have four children, Christine being the youngest. When Christine was born she was completely healthy like her siblings. Three days after birth however she became very irritable and cried a lot prompting her mother Agulance to take her to the nearest health center in her village. She was treated for malaria and discharged.
“Two months after we were discharged from hospital Christine’s head started to increase but it isn’t me who noticed, it is my neighbor who did but I contested, I thought it was just her hair- she had a lot of hair on her head. My neighbor advised me to shave Christine’s hair and it is after that that I realized that her head had actually increased,” Agulance says. Christine was taken back to the village health center but this time the clinician there referred her to a pediatrician who then referred Christine to CURE Uganda. Agulance says that she has laid Christine in God’s hands and is waiting for God’s miracle. Please pray for Christine's healing and strength for Aqulance!
“I’m happy. I’m very happy,” said Agulance. This morning, Agulance’s happiness came from the announcement that they could go home today. We will see them again in about a month. “Pray for me to return safely,” asked Agulance. Please also be praying for Christine that her operation has been successful.
“I’m feeling happy and joyful because before the surgery (Christine's) head would be hot, but now it is not hot,” said Agulance. Christine is recovering well from her surgery. During the night, both her and Agulance were able to sleep. This morning, Christine has been playing with an inflated glove balloon which she received from the nurses. Please be praying for Christine to have a quick recovery.
“I’m happy because I have hope that God will heal my child. I trust God,” said Agulance. Christine and Agulance returned to CURE Uganda as instructed by their doctors, a work up was done and she was scheduled for surgery today. Christine is currently in surgery where Dr. Justin and Dr. Jacob are performing an ETV/CPC, please be praying for a successful operation and a quick recovery!
“The baby will be okay. They told me they would do labs and if they find nothing in the body then we will be discharged,” said Agulance. Christine's labs came back good and they were discharged home and given a follow up appointment for next month. During Agulance's time at CURE Uganda she gave her life to Christ and is planning on attending a church near her home and will bring her children with her. Please be praying for Christine that she will recover well from this operation and for her mother's faith to continue to grow!
“I was worried during the operation. I was wondering if the baby would come back from the surgery alive. I went there (to the chapel service) and was praying there for a successful surgery,” said Agulance. Christine was under the care of nurse Ruth this morning before she was moved back to the ward, she reported that Christine had a seizure and a high heart rate after surgery but since then she has stabilized. Labs will be run today due to her pale color. “Baby is improving compared to how she came, though I was informed that baby might be anemic. They will do blood work and if so, they will transfuse,” said Agulance. “(My) prayer request is for the baby to have a quick recovery,” shared Agulance. Please pray for Christine's improvement and healing!
This morning, Dr. Noah and Dr. Kung, our CURE fellow from Thailand, performed an irrigation of the ventricles and washed out the bloody CSF making the fluid in Christine's head clear in preparation for her next operation. While Christine was in surgery, Agulance sat outside the ICU talking with some of our other families in the hospital. Christine is now awake and content in the ICU, allowing Agulance to attend the chapel service held in the ward. Please be praying for Christine to recover well from surgery and for her next operation to be successful.
This morning, Agulance decided to invite Jesus into her life! She was ministered to by Immaculate from our Spiritual Center and she is now born again! She spent her day doing laundry and kept walking with Christine around the hospital to calm her down before surgery. However, Christine's operation was postponed due to the ICU being full. Agulance enjoys the meals at CURE Uganda and she says, “I have never been to a hospital that serves patients free food.“
