Rania's Story

“Rania was growing well. She had even learnt how to sit and crawl. Her favorite time was when she was sitting and playing with her toys. She would smile a lot,” said Resta, Rania's mother. One month ago however, Resta noticed that Rania wasn’t interested in sitting anymore, she preferred to lay down and became irritable. When she was taken to hospital, the doctors told her that Rania was overweight and that her head circumference was more that for children her age, so they referred Rania to CURE. When Resta conceived Rania she was a student in senior three so she discontinued her education until she gave birth. She says that she plans to resume school when Rania grows and learns to walk. Rania’s father is a mechanic but isn’t very supportive financially so it is Justine, Resta mother who still takes care of her, her baby, and her two siblings Martin and Mercy. Martin and Mercy are very close to Rania. This is their second day at CURE and Rania is being prepared for surgery. Please join us in praying for Rania's healing!

Rania had measles three weeks ago, but it was treated and she is doing well. She was brought for review last Friday at our satellite clinic and the doctors confirmed that the surgery that was done at CURE is working well. “Her head has reduced and she can sit for a longer time”, Resta said. We will be reviewing Rania again in July. Please keep praying for her. Photo of Rania

“We are going,” said Resta. This morning, Dr. Justin told them they could go home! We will see them again in about a month for check up. Prior to leaving, Rania was seen by our physical therapist Sam who taught Resta exercises for Rania’s neck. “The neck is paining, she can’t change (direction). But we are going to do the exercises,” said a determined Resta. Please be praying for Rania that she will need no further treatment and for the exercises to help in strengthening her neck. “She is okay, even me I am okay, I am happy,” said Resta. Rania had a calm night other than a fever that she is being given a syrup to help break. As expected, she despises the taste of the syrup. This morning she cried and did everything in her ability to stop the medicine from entering her mouth, and afterwards her mother held her as she sucked her thumb. Resta has call her family back at home and told them the good news. They are very happy and have been praying for Rania. “When we pray, God answers,” said Resta. Please keep Rania in your prayers that she will continue to heal and get healthy! Photo of Rania

“Im feeling bad but trusting the Almighty, He knows everything,” said Resta. Rania went into surgery today for an ETV/CPC which was performed by Dr. Kerry under the observation of Dr. Justin. Prior to the operation, Resta did her best to keep Rania from crying, she was irritable because she was not allowed to eat. “She is hungry and she dislikes water, she likes milk but they have refused her,” said Resta. Resta has been praying for Rainia, “God to protect and heal my child.” We're thankful that she has an army of prayer warriors out there that will stand with her in her petitions! Photo of Rania
