Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. “When I was pregnant I didn’t have any complications so I was shocked when I gave birth to a baby with this condition (spina bifida). I was very scared because I expected a healthy child. However, because of God’s direction we were able to move from the health center where Beatrice was born to the three different government hospitals in just one day until we ended up here at CURE Hospital,” Esther said. Since she gave birth to Beatrice last Friday, Esther hasn’t been home yet. Her husband Ronald has been very supportive. Since Friday when she gave birth he has been by her side, moving through the hospitals they were referred to until they got to CURE and now that they have settled in, he decided to go back home and prepare for work. Esther is a housewife and her husband Ronald is a primary school teacher and Beatrice is their only child. Please join us in praying for baby Beatrice's surgery!

This morning Dr. Noah and Dr. Peter told Esther that they could go home! She is happy that Beatrice is doing better. This morning they packed up and said goodbyes to their friends before traveling home. We will see them back at CURE in about a month. Please keep Beatrice in your prayers, that her back will heal well and that hydrocephalus will not develop. Photo of Beatrice

Beatrice was not discharged this morning like Esther was hoping. “Probably she will go home tomorrow…if everything is good they will go home,” said nurse Caren. Beatrice’s doctors removed her wound dressing this morning and the site began to bleed so she has been kept another day to make sure her back is healing well and there are no signs of infection. Prior to lunch Esther spent time in the playroom painting her nails and getting her nails painted by mother Deo. Please keep Beatrice in your prayers that she will get to go home tomorrow! “The surgeon told me they might send me home tomorrow. I feel good,” said Esther. “The happiness is because of the child, that she is now well,” said Esther. In the afternoons she has been going to the church service for the families in the hospital, “I learned you have to forgive,” said Esther. Esther’s prayer request is, “That my child will be better.” Thank you for your continued prayers for this family! Photo of Beatrice

“I’m very happy, yesterday I was not happy because they took my baby to theatre,” said Esther. Yesterday Dr. Peter operated on Beatrice, he removed the swelling and closed her back. Esther met with some of our CURE pastoral staff, “(They told me), 'don’t worry we are praying for the baby',” said Esther. Beatrice’s doctors have no major concerns so they are transferring her back to the ward. Please keep Beatrice in your prayers that she will recover well from her surgery and that she will not develop hydrocephalus. Photo of Beatrice

“I am a little scared about the surgery today, but I have prayed and am hoping for the best,” said Esther. She spent most of the morning cuddling Beatrice who was grumpy because the doctors had stopped her from being fed in preparation for her surgery. Please join us in praying that her surgery goes well!
