“There are no other kids with this disease in my village. When I would move with him in town, people would over stare at us and I would feel uncomfortable so I stopped moving with him and I kept him indoors so that we could have peace. Other people used to tell me that he cannot survive with such a head,” Zubeda says. While at home, Ahmad’s two older siblings and his parents are his only companions because outsiders fear to even touch him. When Ahmad had just developed hydrocephalus, Zubeda took him to a government hospital and he was referred to CURE for surgery however his family couldn’t afford money for transport. Recently, a group of missionaries identified him and brought him to CURE for surgery. Zubeda now says, “My heart is not hurting anymore because I have seen other children like him who are getting treated. I am also praying for Ahmad to get better like the other children.” Zubeda’s mother is helping to take care of her home and her other two children who are ten and six years old. Please join us in praying for and encouraging Ahmad and Zubeda as they start the treatment and healing process!
Zubeda is happy because they are going home today! Yesterday, Ahmed had only one seizure so his doctors feel comfortable sending him home with his anti seizure medication. Zubeda is happy with the improvement she has seen in Ahmed. We will see them again at a follow up clinic in Gulu next month. Please keep Ahmed in your prayers - that his seizures will stop and for his condition to continue improving.
“Pray for God to help the child,” said Zubeda. Ahmad returned to CURE on Sunday, because he has been having seizures and his mother is concerned about his head size and eye sight. Ahmad has been placed on anti-seizure medication and is under observation. Today he had blood work done to check his electrolytes. This morning, Zubeda asked Dr. Peter about Ahmad’s head size, and he explained that Ahmad's body must also grow to support his head. Zubeda has been talking to her family back home and has told them that Ahmad’s condition is improving.
On Saturday, Ahmed was discharged home but we will see them again at a follow up clinic in Gulu next month. Please keep Ahmed in your prayers that he will recover well from his surgery.
Ahmed is recovering well, he is feeding and had a good night. His mother Zubeda is also doing well, she is happy the operation is finished. Ahmed’s doctors have no major concerns so they are transferring him out of the ICU and back to the ward. Please keep Ahmed in your prayers that he will recover well and need no further operations.
Ahmad went into surgery today where Dr. Peter performed an ETV/CPC. The procedure was successful and Ahmad is now resting in the PACU but will soon be transferred to the ICU. Please continue to pray for Ahmad that he will recover well from his operation.
“ICU is full, I think maybe seven will stay there so we couldn’t add any, so these will be worked on tomorrow,” said Dr. Noah. He examined Ahmad today and has no new concerns. Ahmad was one of five cases postponed today, he will probably go into surgery tomorrow. Zubeda says, they are both doing well and that they had a good night. Ahmed has spent the day in bed while Zubeda did laundry and talked with some of the other families in the hospital. Please be praying for Ahmad to have a successful operation.
Ahmad will be going to theatre tomorrow for surgery for hydrocephalus. His mother Zubeda said, "I have been waiting for this for so long and now it is actually happening." She has informed his family about the surgery too. Please join us in prayer and the support of Ahmad.
