What am I giving to?

CURE in Uganda

The picture above is of CURE in Uganda. Everyone who serves with CURE in Uganda, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Peace. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Peace. When you give a gift through Peace's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Uganda. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Peace. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“I have three children; Peter, Rosette and Peace. Peter is nine years and is in Primary 1 while Rosette is eight years and is in nursery school. I have not been with them for three weeks now because Peace needs surgery. I miss them and often talk to them on phone and they say that they miss me and Peace very much,” Jennifer shared. Peace was born with spina bifida and had surgery at the Mulago National Referral Hospital. One month after her surgery however, her head started to increase in size. Jennifer had no idea what the new condition (hydrocephalus) was, but in God's timing there was a team of doctors doing community work in her village just at the time when Peace had developed hydrocephalus. When they met with her, they identified the condition and immediately referred her to CURE Hospital. Peace is from a Christian home and her parents are peasant farmers. Jennifer and her husband Joram have been taking Peace to church to be prayed for from the time she was born and she was even baptized when she was three months old. Jennifer told us that it is because of the Christian values at CURE Hospital that she has been able to stay with us for three weeks now without any problems. She loves the fellowship that the mothers have in the ward, the food, and the good beddings. She said, “I am comfortable and just looking forward to the surgery.” Please join us in prayer and support for Peace as we prepare her for surgery.

Jennifer is very happy that the operation is over with and describes everything as good. Jennifer says they had a good night and that Peace is doing good, she is happy that they are moving out of the ICU today and back to the ward. Peace’s doctors have no major concerns because she is feeding well and has no fevers. Jennifer called home yesterday and told her family that Peace was out of surgery which they were happy about. Please be praying for Peace to recover well from her operation and for her future operation to go well. Photo of Peace

“My heart is pumping so fast as I wait for them to take Peace into surgery, but I took some time to pray for her,” said Jennifer. Peace went in for an ETV/CPC with the possibility of a shunt. Dr. Justin discovered the anatomy to be very distorted so he performed a fenestrated of membranes, but she will need another operation which Dr. Justin thinks will happen in four to six weeks once the anatomy rearranges itself. Please be praying for Peace, that she will recover well from this operation and that any further operations will be successful. Photo of Peace

During the night baby Peace cried but we're thankful to God that by morning she was calm. Jennifer had some time to pray this morning, she prayed for Peace and for her other children at home. For those who are praying for Peace Jennifer said,”please pray that they operate (on) her well.” Our doctors are hoping to take her into surgery tomorrow. Since late September Peace has been on F100 to treat malnutrition, when she started she weighed 4.6kg today she weighs 5.1 which has made her doctors very happy. Please keep her in your prayers!
