What am I giving to?

The CURE Hospital in Uganda

The picture above is of the CURE hospital in Uganda. The doctors, nurses, technicians, cooks, cleaners, and administrators of CURE Uganda are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Mariam. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $2000 for every procedure we provide Mariam and kids like her. When you give a gift through Mariam's CUREkids profile, your contribution is designated to an exclusive country fund for CURE's work in Uganda, and those funds can only be used for operational expenses to treat patients in Uganda. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Mariam. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“Since Mariam fell sick I have been having very many thoughts and have been so stressed, I even had no appetite for food. But since I arrived last night, I have seen many children with this condition, some are worse and some are getting better so I have developed hope that my child will be fine. We didn’t know that Mariam has hydrocephalus, that is why we delayed to come to CURE Hospital,” said Specioza. A few months after birth, Mariam developed febrile illness and was taken to a health center, but when her head started to increase, her parents decided to take her to a bigger hospital and it is from there that she was referred to CURE. Specioza didn’t have any money, not even for her transport fare, so they had to first look for money to help them get here. Mariam has two children. Her firstborn is healthy and is living with his aunt while Specioza and Mariam are here at CURE. Both Specioza and her husband are peasant farmers, her husband is very supportive and is praying for Mariam. Please join us in welcoming them and praying for Mariam's healing!

Mariam was moved out of the ICU this morning to make room for a more critical patient, which made Specioza happy to be back in the ward. She is very pleased that Mariam’s operation is over and that it went well. At this time Mariam has no major concerns, she has been resting a lot, but when she's awake, she is very alert. Please keep Mariam in your prayers that she will continue to improve! Photo of Mariam

“On one hand I am happy because Mariam is going in for surgery, but on the other hand, I am a little bit worried because of the risks involved in the surgery. I am planning to spend some time praying for Mariam while she is in the operating room,” said Specioza. Specioza communicated to her husband about Mariam’s surgery and he is praying too. We will keep you all updated on Mariam’s progress. Please keep her and her family in prayer. Photo of Mariam

"This hospital is different from others I have been to because the doctors care so much for the children," said Specioza, Mariam's mother. Mariam had a brain CT scan yesterday, it will be reviewed by the surgeon and then a plan for her treatment will be made. Please keep her in your prayers! Photo of Mariam
