CUREkids Updates

Baby Jean
Philippines - Age 17
We recently had the opportunity to conduct a mobile screening to find patients with treatable conditions, and Baby Jean was one of the patients screened and scheduled for a doctor's appointment and surgery at Tebow CURE Philippines. For the past seventeen years, Baby Jean has dreamed of being able to walk like any other kid her age. But unfortunately, her family's financial situation made it really tough for them to make that happen. Her mom, Arabella, is a housewife who takes on laundry jobs on the side, while her dad works as a manual laborer. Their wages barely cover the basic needs of Baby Jean and her siblings. But here's the good news: Next week, Baby Jean will finally have her very first doctor's appointment at Tebow CURE! It's such a huge milestone for her. Let's give her a warm welcome by sending prayers and messages of encouragement her way. She deserves all the support we can give!

Lance's hospital stay has come to an end! During our conversation with his mother, Madelyn, she mentioned that he had a restless night and experienced difficulty sleeping in the children's ward. Lance seemed bothered by the noise and would wake up whenever another child cried. His lack of sleep also affected Madelyn, as she cared for him throughout the night. Madelyn is relieved to learn that Lance has been cleared for discharge, finally allowing them to return home. Before leaving, Lance was given medication to help aid his healing. Please continue to keep Lance in your prayers for a speedy recovery!

We appreciate your prayers for Lance, and we are happy to report that his surgery was a success! Plastic surgeon Dr. Shera performed a cleft lip repair for Lance. This surgical procedure will correct the gap or cleft in Lance’s upper lip. Lance's surgery went smoothly, and he is currently in the recovery phase. Please continue to keep Lance in your prayers for a speedy recovery, and so that he feel comfortable and at ease during his time in the children's ward. Thank you!

Klayvin
Philippines - Age 3
Klayvin has returned to our clinic after being away for some time. He has grown so much since the last time we saw him, and look at that beautifully healed lip! It is now very clear that his lip repair procedure was successful and yielded positive results. Klayvin seemed less inclined to engage in a conversation when we saw him today. His father explained that Klayvin was tired from waking up early and hungry as he had not eaten breakfast. As Klayvin continues his treatment journey, speech therapy sessions will be included in his plan to comprehensively assess his communication abilities, aiming to enhance his skills in that area. We will see him again next month!

Lance was admitted earlier than expected, and we are delighted to announce that he is now ready for surgery. During his admission, Tebow CURE had a special visitor, Camille Prats, a well-known local artist in the Philippines. Camille Prats wanted to learn more about our work at Tebow CURE. This visit turned out to be quite a reunion for Madelyn, Lance's mother. Interestingly, Madelyn was initially supposed to be Camille's nanny in the past, but circumstances prevented that from happening. It was a surprising encounter that reminded everyone that we live in a small world. Lance had the opportunity to meet and play with Camille in the children's ward, and Camille took the chance to wish Lance good luck with his scheduled surgery tomorrow. Let's keep Lance in our prayers for a successful surgical procedure!
