Fritz was supposed to undergo surgery this week, but as per the assessment of the doctors, his bones are still too rigid for corrective surgery, and he will need a few more cast changes. He will be visiting us every week until such time that his muscles and tendons will be supple enough for corrective surgery. Please pray that Fritz will be patient as he goes through the process!
We rejoice with Vienns as he has graduated from his weekly cast changes! He was finally admitted this week and underwent surgery earlier this morning. The medical team decided to correct his right foot first. Since the weekly cast changes were effective in lessening the severity of the deformity and making his tendons more supple, Doctors Eide (left) and Micah (right) did not need to cut bones. Instead, they just performed a “tendon lengthening” procedure in which Vienns' Achilles tendon, located near his ankle, was cut and lengthened to keep his foot in the proper position. Then a tendon transfer was done, which literally means another tendon in Vienns’ foot was transferred to a spot that will pull his foot further into the correct position. Vienns’ surgery was a success, and he bade Nurse Donna goodbye as he was wheeled out of the operating room!
We are happy to see Crisano walking with a fully healed and corrected foot! He was given a pair of orthopedic shoes that he can use every day to prevent his clubfoot from recurring. Thank you for being instrumental in giving children like Crisano a chance at healing through your support and generosity!
Look who’s back healed and recovered! We were astounded to see the difference between Rizamol’s operated and untreated foot! She was given a pair of orthopedic shoes that she can use while walking and playing and a pair of braces to keep her operated foot in the proper position while she’s sleeping at night. She is currently undergoing cast changes once again to correct her other foot. Thank you for making this possible with your support and generosity!
We are happy to welcome our new friends, Fritz and Carlite! They come from a city in Visayas Islands, which is located in the central part of the Philippine archipelago. “We rode a bus, boat, and plane just to get here!” Fritz told us. They have come a long way and are super excited to start their journey toward being clubfoot-free! Please help give them a warm welcome by sending them messages of encouragement and prayers!
