What am I giving to?

CURE in Philippines

The picture above is of CURE in Philippines. Everyone who serves with CURE in Philippines, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Drexler. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Drexler. When you give a gift through Drexler's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Philippines. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Drexler. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“I just want things to go back to normal. I want to be able to shower on my own and do my tasks independently,” shares Drexler.

Because of the pandemic, Drexler’s normalcy shifted in many ways. Kids like him are not allowed to go out to public places because of government restriction while all schools transitioned to home-based modules. “I’m currently in 7th grade and I study at home. During my free time, I take care of my pet fish, play games, and ride my bicycle in the neighborhood,” says Drexler. Unfortunately, Drexler’s cycling activity has been put on hold since he fell out of balance and broke his arm.

“Earlier this month, he was doing tricks on his bike and fell off balance and broke his arm. This is the same arm that got dislocated months ago after a skateboarding accident. This time, it actually broke. I was really nervous about it as we inquired at another local hospital. We were told that there was going to be a long wait. Thankfully, we heard about Tebow CURE from our friends and we went here right away. I never thought that Drexler will get scheduled immediately. We didn’t have to wait long!” shares Drexler’s mom, Leonisa.

With the many uncertainties that the pandemic brought on locally, we are honored to be a constant provider of pediatric orthopedic care here in the Philippines. Because of your help, Drexter will get his arm surgery right away!

It is a privilege to be God’s hands and feet as we share God’s love to kids with treatable disabilities here in the Philippines!

Drexler checked in with us today to have his arm x-ray done. The doctor showed Drexler and Mommy Leonisa where the surgical implant was inserted and told them the good news that his bones have been healing well. He will have to wait for six more weeks before he’s cleared to use his arm! Photo of Drexler

Drexler is back for a follow-up and had his arm sling removed in the clinic today! He is now allowed to use his operated arm to do daily tasks such as feeding himself, writing, and chores. However, he is still not allowed to lift heavy objects with his operated arm. We will see him again in six weeks for a follow-up appointment. Photo of Drexler

Drexler is feeling great post-op, and he is now cleared to go home! “I want to thank Tebow CURE, the doctors, nurses, and staff for my successful surgery. I also want to thank God!” he said before saying goodbye. "I am relieved that my son's surgery is done and we can finally go home," Leonisa told us. Please continue to pray for Drexler's recovery. We cannot wait to see him again in two weeks for his follow-up! Photo of Drexler

After two weeks of waiting, Drexler’s finally had his surgery this morning. He was so calm as the medical team prepared the machines and apparatus in the OR. He was then put to sleep and the surgical team began the procedure by realigning the fractured bones called the “radius” and “ulna”. These were then secured in place with the use of surgical plates to allow them to grow back in proper alignment. While the surgery was ongoing, Patient Ministry Coordinator Mary Ann spent time with Leonisa, easing her anxiety by encouraging her to replace her fears with faith through prayer. Not long after, Drexler’s surgery was done and he was wheeled back to the ward! Thank you for praying with us! Photo of Drexler

Drexler is here! Our Admissions Officer Frances welcomed him this morning for his scheduled surgery tomorrow. We also gave him a hygiene kit with toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and added coloring books and crayons just for fun! “I am not afraid. I know I’m only going to sleep during surgery,” Drexler told us. He is brave and ready to face the OR tomorrow, but Mom Leonisa is nervous about the procedure. “My son is brave, but I’m worried,” shared Leonisa. We can see why Leonisa feels that way but we gave her the assurance that both of them will be covered in prayers throughout their journey. Will you pray with us? Photo of Drexler
