What am I giving to?

CURE in Philippines

The picture above is of CURE in Philippines. Everyone who serves with CURE in Philippines, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Ellan. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Ellan. When you give a gift through Ellan's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Philippines. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Ellan. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“I love to shoot hoops but I think my parents won’t allow me anymore,” Ellan told us.

Ellan is currently in fifth grade doing modular distance learning. With schools closed and kids being required to stay at home most of the time due to the pandemic, Ellan has so much more time to play. In fact, it is for this reason he found his way here at Tebow CURE.

“I was playing basketball last month when me and my friend collided with each other. My friend fell on top of me and my arm took all the weight,” Ellan recounts how he broke his arm. “The family’s first reaction was bringing him to a traditional massage therapist called a “manghihilot” who wrapped Ellan's arm in leaves, but this did not make his condition any better,” Lainie, Ellan’s cousin, shares. “They went to a nearby hospital to have his x-ray done where they learned he fractured his arm. He was advised to undergo surgery but they were asked to pay Php 80,000 (≈USD 1,600),” Lainie continues. This worried Ellan's family given that the income of Ellan’s parents as a fruit juice distributor and a traffic enforcer weren’t enough. Thankfully, their barangay captain (head of the village) referred them to Tebow CURE where he was told about the opportunity for surgery!

Ellan aspires to become a cop someday but for now, he will have to focus on healing his arm first! “I pray that God will heal my arm!” he shares. Ellan’s prayer will now be answered, thanks to your support and partnership!

Ellan visited us in the clinic today, and he was so glad that he can get rid of his arm sling. This will allow him to start using his operated arm more freely and keep the muscles from becoming too stiff to move! The medical team will check how his bone looks next month! Photo of Ellan

All in all, Ellan’s stay with us has been a breeze and he is now ready to go home where he can continue resting. Before saying goodbye, Child Mentor Patricia spent time with him, telling him the good news about the One who gives hope and healing. Ellan did not only receive physical healing through his surgery yesterday, but he also gladly received spiritual healing offered by Jesus! Patricia prayed with Ellan, receiving this free gift of salvation through prayer. Thank you for allowing us to make a difference in the lives of our patients both physically and spiritually through your support! We will see him again in two weeks! Photo of Ellan

Ellan was pretty chill as he went down the OR this morning. Patient Ministry Coordinator Mary Ann prayed that “he will be still and know that God is with him” before going inside the room. Since Ellan’s radius and ulna (bones in the forearm) were fractured, the medical team had to realign them and hold them in place with the use of surgical plates. This will allow the bones to fuse together in proper alignment as they heal. The procedure was a quick one and Ellan was back in the ward before he knew it! Thank you for praying! Photo of Ellan

Help us welcome our new buddy, Ellan! He was admitted today and accompanied by his cousin and guardian, Lainie. “Both Ellan’s parents need to work today to earn money so I volunteered to be his caretaker,” Lainie explained. Please be praying that Ellan’s surgery will be a success and he will have a comfortable and meaningful stay with us for the next few days! Photo of Ellan
