We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Harvey. When you give a gift through Harvey's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Philippines. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. “I am here to get my lip repaired and I am excited!” Harvey tells us.

Harvey is outspoken and does not hesitate to express what he wants. He tells you when he is happy and makes sure that you know when he’s not. Because of his cleft lip and palate, it may be a challenge to understand his speech, but that doesn’t stop him from making friends anyway! Some of his playmates are his big brother King-King and twin sister Honey.

“I gave birth at home, so didn’t know that Harvey had cleft lip and palate until he came out. I didn’t even know that he had a twin sister! My tummy still felt heavy after one baby was out and, little did I know, another one was on the way!

My long-time dream is to have Harvey’s cleft lip and palate repaired. We were ready to go through surgery with another organization until the lockdown happened because of the pandemic. Then, our family friend referred us here so that Harvey can have surgery despite the crisis. I am so happy!” shares Harvey’s mom Alma.

“I would like to become a police officer when I grow up,” Harvey adds. Afraid to be bullied in school, Alma is going through school modules with Harvey at home, hoping that his cleft lip and palate will be repaired just in time for school to open again. Because of your partnership, we are still able to serve kids like Harvey during this pandemic. Thank you for your support!

We know that Harvey is a champ for going through both cleft lip and palate surgeries all at once! He may not have been smiling when we saw him the day after, but he was still chatty… using his eyebrows! We asked him if he was OK, happy, and proud of himself for going through surgery, to all of which he responded with a “yes” as he raised his eyebrows. His lips are still a little swollen and it hurts to open his mouth. So while he continues to heal at home, he will need to be on a soft diet until otherwise instructed by the doctor. We look forward to seeing how Harvey recovers fully as he comes back to get his stitches out next week! Photo of Harvey

“We were told not to eat breakfast to prepare for surgery. His father assumed it only meant breakfast rice meal, so we fed him with milk and crackers to start the morning! That was a mistake!” Alma said of their mishap this morning. Thankfully, it wasn’t too bad of a mistake, and Harvey only needed to wait patiently until he was ready for his turn. He didn’t mind that too much as long as Spongebob Squarepants was on screen. And just before the day ended, Harvey waved “goodbye!” as he was on his way to surgery. After a few hours, his patience paid off and he is now cleft lip and palate free! Photo of Harvey

“I’m watching Spongebob Squarepants. It’s my favorite show! I really like Mr. Krabs,” Harvey says as he makes crab-like motions with his fingers. Harvey couldn’t stop telling us how he missed his show since it stopped airing back home. He’s all settled in the ward ready to have surgery soon, which he’s super excited about! “My lips will no longer look ripped!” he told us. As Harvey gets settled in, we pray for God’s hands to be with him as he goes through his healing journey. Photo of Harvey
