CURE in Philippines

The picture above is of CURE in Philippines. Everyone who serves with CURE in Philippines, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Kian. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Kian. When you give a gift through Kian's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Philippines. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Kian. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“I was happy when I learned that I could finally undergo surgery since I already miss going to school,” Kian shares.

Kian is currently a sixth grade student, excited and ready to move up to high school. When asked what makes school fun, Kian tells us that, “learning Filipino is my favorite because it’s easy and I love playing volleyball with Jeric and Jerald during our downtime.” He also studies hard and excels in school as he desires to become a soldier someday! “It is my dream job because I want to help maintain the peace and order and defend the nation in times of war!” Kian tells us proudly.

However, Kian felt defenseless when he was involved in an accident last December. “I was out with my cousins on Christmas Day going about the neighborhood singing Christmas carols when I was crossing the street and a motorcycle hit me,” Kian recounts. Due to the impact, Kian fractured his right leg.

“We brought him to a local hospital but they could not accommodate us since he needed surgery. We went to a regional hospital instead but we were asked to prepare a big amount of money,” Roland, Kian’s uncle shares. “We couldn’t come up with the amount they were asking for since Roland’s dad only works as a cable technician and the motorcycle driver who was liable for Kian was not financially capable as well. The hospital advised for us to go home and come back once we already have the down payment. Thankfully, the barangay captain (a local government official) in our community told us about Tebow CURE Hospital,” he adds.

Despite all these challenges and delays, Kian is determined to undergo surgery at Tebow CURE and hopefully attend his graduation ceremony next month! Join us as Kian begins his healing journey so he could get back to his normal routine in no time!

We delivered your get-well messages to Kian during clinic today and he thanks each and every one of you who took the time to encourage and pray for him! He is no longer experiencing any pain and his x-ray showed that his bones are healing. He started doing some exercises with our PT interns by putting some of his weight on his operated leg during physical therapy. Slowly but surely, Kian is one step closer to recovery! Photo of Kian

Thank you for praying for Kian's recovery! He is already up and walking in physical therapy. He's doing so good that he's ready to make the trip back to his hometown and continue to recover in the comfort of his home. But before that, he stopped by to get another X-ray to make sure that the rod in his leg is still in the right place. It is! Kian is cleared to go home and will see us again in a couple of weeks! Thank you for your prayers! Our medical team worked hard to fix Kian's broken leg. Radio Technologist Maye patiently waited in the OR for Dr. Elsa's "go signal" to take an X-ray of his leg. Based on the images that Maye took, Dr. Elsa and her team did well and Kian's broken leg is stable with a rod. Now, we wait for his leg to fully heal and we continue to pray for Kian's recovery! A week ago, Kian and his family, on a whim, went to our clinic with the small hope of possibly receiving treatment. Today, here they are, admitted and lined up for tomorrow’s surgery! Daddy Jenrey made sure to clean Kian’s leg as instructed by the doctors. Would you please pray for them that they will experience peace and comfort as Kian goes down the OR? Photo of Kian
