We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Arthur. When you give a gift through Arthur's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Philippines. Have more questions? Ask us.

“Arthur is such a happy kid. He is also very independent and tries to do things without our help!” Dad Abdul speaks highly of his son.

Arthur is the 2nd of the three boys of Abdul and Salama. He loves to play and is a gift to his family. Arthur was born with clubfoot and when his parents saw his condition, Abdul shares that “We just left it in the hands of God to heal him. This is what was given to us and we are grateful to have him.”

Abdul and Salama tried to seek medical help, but did not proceed with the treatment anymore because of financial constraints. “The local hospital said that the weekly cast change would cost more money than we had since I only work as a tricycle driver and my wife stays at home, taking care of our kids.” They also tried different alternatives such as massaging Arthur’s feet and making him wear boots but they were not effective.

Arthur’s family comes from a community 5 hours away from CURE Philippines and was heard about us from his teacher at daycare. “We were asked if we wanted our son’s feet to be treated and we jumped the opportunity right away” Abdul tells us. Through the assistance of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, a local government unit, they were referred here at Tebow CURE.

“Having been able to come to Tebow CURE is timely since Arthur is still young and still does not understand when other kids his age bully him. Had we waited much later when he is older, all the bullying and hurtful words would just affect his self esteem and cause him trouble. Finally, Arthur can finally be normal like his brothers Aljur and Andre. If he wants, he can pursue my dream of joining the army but if he wishes to pursue another occupation, I would totally support him.” Abdul shares about his hopes and dreams for Arthur.

We are so privileged to be able to help kids like Arthur through your help and support in what we do!

Unlike other kids who shriek in fear during cast removal, Arthur was all smiles when he finally said goodbye to his casts. He let out a giggle as the cast cutter gave him a tickling sensation on his feet. Since he’s been in casts for too long, it would take some time to get him used to walking without them again. He visited physical therapy where Abdul taught Arthur exercises that he could do at home to get back his strength on his feet. Please pray for his progress - that he will be able to run and play with his brothers in no time! We will see them again next year! Photo of Arthur

Arthur was in for a treat as he celebrated his fifth birthday with us during clinic! Not only was he able to say goodbye to his old long leg casts as he received a new short leg cast, but he was also given some ice cream by the Spiritual Ministry Department! We will see him again next month for his follow-up appointment! Photo of Arthur

Our prayers have been answered! Arthur is back to smiling this morning! He is smiling for three reasons: 1.) his feet do not hurt anymore, 2.) he has a new toy balloon, and 3.) he gets to be reunited with his mom and brothers today! “I am going home now,” Arthur told us smiling while pointing outside the window. Child Mentor Patricia spent time with Arthur and read him your encouraging messages and prayers! Not long after, we said our goodbyes to Arthur and Abdul as they set off on their 10 hour bus ride going back home. We are excited to see them again next month, which is coincidentally Arthur’s birthday! Photo of Arthur

Arthur’s been having a rough day today. Even his toy cars were untouched. He has been complaining about some pain in his feet, which is pretty normal since it has only been a day after his surgery. The nurses loosened his casts a bit to help relieve the discomfort and gave him some medication. Assistant Spiritual Director Pastor Jeff also visited Arthur and Abdul and encouraged them. Please pray with us that Arthur will feel better and get back to playing and smiling again! Photo of Arthur

It's another full day of surgeries in the OR. This morning, Arthur was first in line. He was scared, but prepared. He even had his hair styled, looking all cute while headed to surgery. Though Arthur has had several cast changes, going into the OR was a different experience for Arthur and dad Abdul. Thankfully, the tendon release and transfer procedures are now over! So we continue to pray for Arthur's healing and that they will see God's hands throughout this journey! Photo of Arthur

For the past 9 weeks, Arthur has been visiting Tebow CURE for his weekly cast change. But today, we got to spend more time with him and to know him a little bit better as he will be staying with us for a couple of days for his surgery! Arthur hung out in the ward playing with toy cars and meeting new friends and fellow patients. Please pray for Arthur and his family that they will experience peace and comfort as he goes down to the operating tomorrow! Photo of Arthur
