“I want to be able to support Izz Ryker in his life goals. My dad, Izz Ryker’s grandfather, loves basketball and looks forward for him to be a basketball player one day. I just want him to be able to walk normally one day. He is a happy kid and he brightens up my day,” shares Kim, Izz Ryker’s dad.
Being a first time dad to a child with clubfoot, Kim works hard to find the best possible treatment to his first born—Izz Ryker. Thankfully, he has the support of family surrounding him and his wife, Riza, in this journey.
“My mother is a health worker and she helped me research treatments for my newborn. We were going to get Izz Ryker treated right away but we hear different recommendations—others say “massage” and others say “surgery.” Finally, we were led here at Tebow CURE, where we decided to get treatment,” Kim tells us.
Treatments for kids with a deformity like Izz Ryker is not easily accessible to locals here in Mindanao. Thanks to your support for CURE Philippines, we are able to provide treatment with sustainable check-ups to kids like Izz Ryker. With your prayers, we will be able to share God’s love to Izz Ryker, Kim, and Riza, as we become the hands and feet of Christ to those who are in need!
Izz Ryker’s eyebrows were back in furrowed position as his cast change began today, but after shedding a few tears, he mustered some courage, stopped crying, and happily looked around as Tzaddi and Jhun finished recasting him! He’s getting more comfortable with the procedure, and before too long, he’ll be finished. Thanks for all the prayers for Izz Ryker so far!
Oh boy, Izz Ryker was less than impressed when Dr. Ray Ray played with his feet in between cast changes! We are very sympathetic to our CUREkids’ pain and discomfort, but his little furrowed eye brows were just too much! Dr. Ray did some light stretching, we emphasize “light”, and were happy to see that Izz Ryker’s feet are becoming quite flexible and are moving into position nicely. We’re hoping next week he’ll feel more relaxed, and his sweet smile will return!
Meet Izz Ryker! He charmed us with his sweet smile during clinic and we look forward to seeing him weekly. Even though they live at the end of the island of Mindanao, his parents Kim and Riza are willing to make the trip so the one day he will become clubfoot-free! It will be a long healing journey for Izz Ryker and we are thankful that he has the awesome support of people like you, praying for him!
