The picture above is of CURE in Philippines. Everyone who serves with CURE in Philippines, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Lovelyn. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Lovelyn. When you give a gift through Lovelyn's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Philippines. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Lovelyn. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

Lovelyn's Story

“God, please help me. Give me strength so I may fight. Guide me so I will have courage. God, you are the One that I need,” sings Lovelyn from her favorite Tagalog song “Ikaw Ang Kailangan Ko” (You’re the One that I Need.)

“God, please help me. Give me strength so I may fight. Guide me so I will have courage. God, you are the One that I need,” sings Lovelyn from her favorite Tagalog song “Ikaw Ang Kailangan Ko” (You’re the One that I Need.)

”Singing worship songs is one of Lovelyn’s favorite things. Next to that is cooking and hanging out with friends. We let her live a normal life and she used to sneak out after school to go on picnics with her group of friends. She is so helpful at home and makes coffee for her dad––Dante––especially now that she stopped going to school. Since Lovelyn was 6 months old, her feet started to grow bigger than normal, which kept her from going about her favorite things to do,” shares Lovelyn’s mom Normelita.

Born with neurofibromatosis, Lovelyn’s body is filled with invasive non-malignant tumors that continue to grow around her body but mostly manifest on her leg. Because of this, kids used to bully her and call her “wak wak” which means “shape-shifter.” But despite people’s remarks, Lovelyn’s incredible heart comes out as she hopes “to become a nurse, so I can help sick people.”

“There are times that she’ll say, ‘Mom I should’ve just taken my life, so I don’t have to suffer like this.’ It pains me to hear that and I've asked God to send a person to help us. We’ve met other local doctors who then referred us to Tebow CURE,” adds Normelita.

Even though there is no treatment to stop the tumors from growing, we are able to offer a functional life for Lovelyn as she decides to have her legs amputated and get fitted for a prosthesis. Financial provision is difficult for Normelita as she and Dante raises 7 kids. But because of your generosity, Lovelyn has been given hope to a better quality of life.

We know that it will not be an easy process, but Lovelyn is comforted that she has her family and the rest of the world praying for her!

We are calling all our prayer warriors for the sudden and devastating news about our sweet Lovelyn. She passed away at 3 am this morning due to cardiac arrest, according to another local hospital. It is so sudden that all we can do is pray—for her parents who are on their way to the city right now, for the Tebow CURE staff and Seeds of Dignity staff who became a part of her care, for the funeral arrangements, and most of all, comfort for her mourning family, community and friends. Lovelyn had the most beautiful voice and she loved singing to the Lord in worship. We can imagine her dancing and singing with Jesus in her perfect body. We may not understand why this happened but we trust that God is in control. His purpose still prevails even though we can’t see it yet. We will remember Lovelyn’s sweet smile that greeted us every day. May God get all the glory in all that we do. Thank you for praying with us. Photo of Lovelyn

We were thrilled to see this smile in physical therapy this morning! Lovelyn’s dressing change revealed that she’s healing well, even though she’s been dealing with some phantom itching and pain. It’s still a lot for the family to deal with emotionally, but they’re happy to be moving forward. One part of moving forward is beginning to exercise, which Lovelyn learned in physical therapy. The stronger she is, the easier it will be for her to adapt to her new legs, coming soon! Photo of Lovelyn

Lovelyn's smile was bigger and brighter today when we stopped by to make sure she's OK. She's definitely packed and ready to leave, but not quite ready to go home yet. Lovelyn, Normelita, and Danica will stay with Seeds of Dignity's patient facility so she's able to stop by the hospital weekly for a dressing change. God continues to show Lovelyn and her family that He is providing all of her needs through our partners. Thank you for supporting Lovelyn with all of her needs––physically and spiritually! Lovelyn's Christmas present yesterday included school supplies that got her excited to go back to school. She grabbed the notebook and pencil and wrote down her initial thoughts about healing. She drew her leg and said, "I miss my leg." Mary Ann, from the spiritual ministry team, helped her process what she lost and gave her hope through words of encouragement. Lovelyn was still able to muster a smile, knowing that healing is a process. As part of Lovelyn's supporters, you can encourage her by leaving a Get Well message on her page! Photo of Lovelyn

"My legs feel so much lighter," said Lovelyn as she recovered from surgery yesterday. Physically, this is the answer to our prayers as Dr. Shelley reflected from the scripture on Matthew 11:28 that says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." And spiritually, we will help Lovelyn process this new journey, so she knows that she's not alone. Metrobank's visit was proof of that today as they handed out a Christmas present to Lovelyn. Our supporters like you are a living proof that Lovelyn has extra hands and feet as she hopes for healing! Photo of Lovelyn

With ample amount of time as she waited for surgery, Lovelyn made the most of it through prayers and singing songs of worship. This was the highlight of her morning as 16 kilograms of total weight (17 lbs on each leg) were lifted off of her feet through the procedure. We are thankful for a successful surgery but Lovelyn’s journey is not over yet. We still ask for your prayers against wound complications and for the tumors to stop growing all over her body. Lovelyn cozied up in bed with two of her best supporters––Normelita (mom) and Danica (sister)––encouraged her as she goes through amputation tomorrow. “Trust God and don’t lose hope are two of my encouragements for her,” says Normelita. All three ladies’ light up as we tell them that they are not the only ones praying for Lovelyn’s procedure but all of the staff here at Tebow CURE as well as those of you who support us from all over the world!
