CURE in Philippines

The picture above is of CURE in Philippines. Everyone who serves with CURE in Philippines, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Arth John. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Arth John. When you give a gift through Arth John's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Philippines. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Arth John. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

Arth John's Story

“I like to jam with music with my friends and my favorite song is ‘One Day’ by Matisyahu. I just like it’s lyrics. I also play the drums. I have two younger brothers and I like being the oldest of them all, so I can take care of them,” Arth John tells us a few of his favorite things.

Another thing that Arth John likes is to be able have surgery on his feet. “Since he’s now a teenager, he’s starting to feel ashamed walking on his tiptoes. When he was a toddler, I noticed that his foot tiptoed as he walked. I brought him to a local doctor who only told us that his situation was inborn. I left it alone thinking that it’s inborn and that’s just the way it is. While my husband drives a tanker for a living, I am mostly overseas to support my family as well. When I came back home last year, his situation got worse and he’s already feeling pain on his feet,” shares Arth John’s mother, Airene.

With Airene’s permission while overseas, Arth John went to Tebow CURE with his aunt and heard that Arth John's achilles tendons are tight and need to be released. “I came back home for his surgery. It’s a good thing that my boss allowed me to so I can take care of him,” says Airene with gratitude.

Surgery is just one step to Arth John’s healing, but just like the lyrics on Arth John’s favorite song, he “gotta hold on, livin’ life day by day, gotta hold on, [and] put your focus on that one day.” We ask that you partner with us as we heal kids like Arth John day by day!

Arth was back for a check up today, and while his right foot is looking great, his left foot has relapsed a little. So, Dr. Shelley made the tough decision to put him back in a cast for a few weeks to keep it from slipping further. But, in typical Arth style, he wasn’t too bothered by the whole thing, and instead of griping about it, he had fun playing video games with the other guys while waiting to go into the casting room. We’re always inspired by kids like Arth who go with the flow, and stay positive no matter what! Photo of Arth John

Our staff has a talent for knowing how to put our patients at ease, even if it involves slightly gruesome “boy humor” at times. Alex teased Arth John during his cast removal, telling him, “We need to close the door…in case the blood splatters…” The two laughed together, and Arth John’s nerves were immediately calmed. Hey, whatever works! Arth John was already walking on his casts, and now that his casts are off, he gets to learn to walk once again, this time on flat feet! Photo of Arth John

Arth John is really taking his healing one day at a time. Today, he's recuperating so well and is ready to go home! "I slept all day after surgery, and now that I am feeling well, I'm just going to relax at home," says Arth John. We thank God for a quick recovery and we continue to pray for Arth John as he comes back for a follow-up in a few weeks! Photo of Arth John

"Isn't the world a better place with music?" Dr. Jun asks as he plays "Thriller" as background music to start off surgery. He has quite a playlist of worship to all random queues of songs. Little did he know that Arth John is a music lover himself! We were in high spirits during Arth John's surgery! As it went quickly, we thank God for being with Arth John and Airene through it all! “Arth John wants to play basketball but when he runs, he trips and falls. It hurts to see that my child has a disability, which is why I find ways for him to be treated. I am so thankful to know that he is finally having surgery, so he will be okay,” Airene shares her joys and struggles having a child with disability. Even though Airene’s job is on hold as Arth John goes through surgery, we reaffirmed that God always provides for those who are in need, just like what is happening to Arth John’s surgery right now. Because of your help, we get to be a channel of blessing to Arth John and Airene! Photo of Arth John
