CURE in Philippines

The picture above is of CURE in Philippines. Everyone who serves with CURE in Philippines, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Charlene. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Charlene. When you give a gift through Charlene's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Philippines. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Charlene. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“I’m in 11th grade! Recess is my favorite subject… just kidding! History is my favorite!”

Charlene is sweet and charming and likes to crack a joke, and like any teenage girl, she has her desires to fit in with the current fashion as she mentions that “[she wants] to be able to wear any style of shoes” and get a variety of shoe-styles that don’t slip off of her foot. Since Charlene is tall for her age, we joked around that she’d be ready to join a pageant with her brand new shoes once she’s healed.

Charlene’s mom Rodelin shares her side of the story and says, “when Charlene was around four years old, we saw a difference in the way Charlene ran, but her x-ray didn’t show anything. We did all kinds of treatment for her foot– massage therapy, herbal therapy, anything that we can think of! Then, our neighbor whose child has had surgery here told us about Tebow CURE, and really convinced us to get her treated here by watching her improve physically.”

Hoping to be healed from disability after her achilles tendon release, Charlene tells us what she dreams of doing in the future, “One day, I’d like to become a chef and cook all kinds of dishes including pasta!”

Pray with us for a successful procedure for Charlene!

Charlene and her very raggedy cast came in for a cast change today. Bonus points for the packing tape used to hold it together! We’re happy to see that she’s been walking though, even if her poor cast has to pay the price. But now she can walk cast free, and work on adjusting to her new, flat foot! Photo of Charlene

We finally caught Charlene awake as she met us with her smile this morning! Although she's not packed yet, she will be headed home today! Charlene says, "I want to pray and thank God for the opportunity of healing me," so we did. We love that she's already filled with gratitude as she patiently waits for a complete healing! Charlene's rest day continues today. Apparently, she didn't get much sleep last night since her foot was swelling up. We loosened up her cast this morning and it made everything better including her sleep! We didn't bother to interrupt our sleeping beauty and hope to see her awake and well tomorrow, so please be praying! Photo of Charlene

Charlene was calm before going into the OR and remained calm post-surgery as expected. Everything about her procedure went well– achilles tendon release, fascia release, and tendon transfer. Her foot is finally flat, but Charlene will need to work hard as she learns to walk with both feet flat on the ground. We'll cross that bridge when we get there. For now, Charlene is back in the ward to rest all day! Photo of Charlene

“Are you sure you don’t wanna go play with us anymore?” asks Ella, our Children’s Mentor. PlayStation and dollhouses aren’t Charlene’s thing anymore. She falls into our “older patient” category since she’s in her teenage years. Settling in the ward to watch a movie or scan through the tablet seems to be the better option as we peek in her room to see if she’s still doing fine. Charlene and her mom Rodelin are glad to be here and excited to finally get her surgery tomorrow! Photo of Charlene
