CUREkids Updates

Derartu
Ethiopia - Infant
Thank you for warmly welcoming Derartu to CURE Children's Hospital of Ethiopia. This adorable six-month-old settled well at the hospital and had her surgery. Her surgeon, Dr. Tesfaye, and Nurse Solomon worked together to beautifully stitch together Derartu's cleft lip in a one-hour procedure. Derartu was then sent to the ward. Please send her positive thoughts and earnest prayers as she recovers.

Abdela
Ethiopia - Infant
Praise God; Abdela recovered well from his cleft lip surgery and got discharged. His treated lip is healing beautifully, and we can't wait to see it fully healed and have no scars! Thank you again, Smile Train and all CURE friends, for making Abdela's healing a reality.

Abdu
Ethiopia - Age 3
After a few days of recovering from his cleft lip surgery, Abdu was discharged. From his shy smile, we can already see how happy he is to have his lip treated. We share in his joy. We hope to see Abdu back at the hospital for a check-up soon. Please send this sweet boy home with your prayers and well wishes.

Edrian
Philippines - Age 15
It can be highly anxiety-inducing to undergo surgery for the first time, and Edrian is experiencing that today. To help calm his nerves and pass the time, Edrian found solace in creating portraits, which he learned by watching tutorials on YouTube. Edrian's exceptional talent amazes everyone around him. As he prepares for his scheduled surgery, let us pray for Edrian and his father to find comfort in knowing that God will be by their side throughout this healing process. Thank you!

April John
Philippines - Age 7
We ran into April John and his grandmother in the clinic today. It was April John's fourth serial casting, and each time the medical team removed his cast, April John would cry because he was scared of the cast cutter. During cast removal, the Tebow CURE medical team tries to comfort children like April John. They understand that these kids often worry about getting accidentally cut and try their best to reassure them that won’t happen. We will meet April John again for his last serial casting before his surgery next week. Please pray that April John can conquer his fears until then!
