It's been a hot minute since we gave you an update on our sweet friend Chris, but we're delighted to share the good news that his recovery has been going well! He has now switched to wearing orthopedic shoes to help keep his feet in a plantigrade (upright) position and stop his clubfoot from recurring. The doctors have noticed that Chris walks with his feet turned inward, but it's too early to tell if he needs another surgery. For now, they will have to keep an eye on him to see if he requires another trip to the OR when he turns three. Chris will keep wearing his orthopedic shoes for the time being and revisit us in four months.

Crisano was scheduled to have surgery in May, but his parents requested to schedule his surgery at the same time as his older sister and brother to minimize their travels. Thankfully, Crisano and his siblings were finally given the gift of healing through surgery! One of our staff members from the spiritual ministry department, Mary Ann, prayed for Crisano and his successful surgery before he was brought into the operating room. Shortly after, the medical staff conducted a tendon lengthening and transfer procedure to correct the deformity in his right foot. After everything was finished, Crisano's foot was put in a cast to help keep it upright while he healed. We appreciate your support and participation in helping us make a physical and spiritual difference in the lives of our patients and their families. We'll check in with Crisano again next week to see how he's doing.

Today is finally the day Mommy Rechille and Daddy Bryan have long waited for—Ezekiel’s surgery! Ezekiel was initially scheduled for surgery last June, but it was postponed twice due to pneumonia and diarrhea. There were detours and delays, but we thank God Ezekiel is now in perfect health and ready to undergo surgery! Doctor Dino and the medical team worked on closing the split in Ezekiel’s lip and partially stitched together the gap in Ezekiel’s palate - the roof of his mouth. This is done to make his future palate repair procedure easier, which will be done in three months. Thanks to your prayers, Ezekiel’s surgery was a success, and he was discharged right away so he can continue to rest and recover at home and be reunited with Daddy Bryan. Ezekiel will be on a soft diet for three weeks, and we cannot wait to see his progress when he sees us again in November!

Lewis says, "Thank you very much for your messages. I am continuing to heal!" after he finished reading all your get-well messages. His debridement was done, and he was allowed to go home. His mum was taught how to care for his wounds to ensure the infection doesn't come back. Please continue praying for his complete healing.

Gregoire is all smiles both because of the progress he has been making and because he has been discharged! "I have received shoes, and I can walk with them," he says. They're special shoes where the sole of the left shoe is thicker, even out the length discrepancy in his legs. Gregoire will return to CURE Niger after a month. "I will go to the farm with my father and brothers when I get home," Gregoire says. Please continue to pray for him during his time away from us.
