Leakey
Kenya - Age 15
“When speaking to Leakey please talk to him in English, he understands it very well and I am happy for him!” Leakey’s mum told us this morning. Since she cannot converse well in English and struggles with Swahili a bit, she is very proud that her son can hear and speak these two essential languages and even translate for her. We thank God that Leakey’s mum is able to take him to school and she is already enjoying the benefits of that. Leakey is feeling good and is not in any discomfort that might have been brought by the TSF frame. Thank you for your prayers for him!
Elizabeth
Kenya - Age 10
When Elizabeth saw us today, she wondered why we didn’t come to work over the weekend so we explained to her that we don’t come over the weekend and used the example of God creating Heaven and Earth and resting on the seventh day. Elizabeth then asked us why some of the essential staff were working over the weekend and we told her that they have different days to rest as well. Elizabeth is okay and is still going through the process of casting. Thank you for your prayers for her!
Paul
Kenya - Age 13
It was a party this morning at Paul’s bedside when we went to the ward to check on the kids. Paul and his friends were competing in a video game and you would hear them randomly shouting what someone had scored when their turn to play came to an end. Paul got his cast off now as he awaits surgery later this week. Thank you for keeping Paul in your prayers!
Cletus
Zambia - Age 12
"I went to church and we were given juice after the service," Cletus couldn’t hide his joy when telling us. It is very clear that he had a very wonderful weekend. Today, the young man had a dressing change to help prevent his wound from catching infection. His skin is healing so well and the staples have been removed to help the skin merge fully. We are thankful for the Surgicorps team that came and conducted his surgery. Continue to remember Cletus in your prayers!
Shantel
Zimbabwe - Age 8
Shantel had her first procedure done at CURE Zimbabwe last week Friday. The surgery was long, calculated, and successful! Dr. Rick worked on her left tibia, correcting the unnatural bow, and replacing the plate that was put in three years ago at CURE Zambia. She is a strong little girl who woke up to some post-op discomfort. Her mother is happy that the first of a series of surgeries is done, and we are too! Join us as we pray for Shantel's recovery.
