“I want to go to school!” said Awa. Seeing how welcoming and dedicated is our staff was, her heart rejoiced. “I know they will fix my leg!”

Awa is a sweet, shy girl. She has a twin back home, waiting for her to return. Unfortunately, few weeks after she was born, her mother died. Awa and her sister became orphans, and they moved in with their grandmother. Two years ago, Awa experienced intense pain in her left leg one night. Her leg became swollen and red. After few days, the inflammation receded, but they began to notice that her leg was too short. Her first and last toes were not forming correctly, and her tibia (the lower leg bone) stopped growing.

Because of the lack of money, her grandma wasn’t able to take Awa to the hospital for treatment. Awa was unable to walk around and only went places on her grandma’s back. With some help from her neighbors, who gave her some money, Awa was able to visit the local hospital. She was given a red pill to dilute it in water and soak her leg in the mixture. Unfortunately, it didn’t help much. One day, Awa’s grandma was advised to bring Awa to CURE Niger. They did not wait! They took the bus and arrived at the CURE Children's Hospital of Niger for treatment.

Please welcome Awa! We are confident that our God will enable her to pursue her dreams. Our doctors and nurses are committed to doing their best to help her. Your prayers and support are an important part of that process. Let us all serve together for a greater purpose -- bringing healing and good news to His children. What an honor and blessing!
