"It makes me very sad to see my son in this state, and to be mocked by this peers," Mansour's mother told us with tears in her eyes. Mansour is a young boy of 10 years old who lived his normal life and went to school like all the other children of his age. Two years ago, a little pimple appeared on his elbow. Little by little, the pimple became ulcerous and grew, spreading all over Mansour's arm. His mother, being more traditional, took him to the traditional practitioner who gave him a hot water massage. The next morning, Mansour's arm and forearm swelled considerably and the skin began to fall off. Seeing this, his mother looked for herbs that helped the wounds heal. The wounds did heal, but as it was healing, the skin contracted and forced Mansour's arm into a permanent bent position.

At school, his mates would often mock him or provock to wrestle, but even with the challenges, Mansour never abandoned school.

Mansour's mother learned about CURE Niger from family members who live here in Niamey. Even when she didn't receive much support the people in the village, Mansour's mother took her courage in hand and brought her son to CURE Niger because she said, "My son's life is worth everything for me".
