CURE in Niger
The picture above is of CURE in Niger. Everyone who serves with CURE in Niger, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Amirah. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.
We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Amirah. When you give a gift through Amirah's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Niger. Have more questions? Ask us.
Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!
When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Amirah. We call it being a CURE Hero!
Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“I had turned away from the cooking fire when suddenly Amirah started to scream,” said her mom, Nafissa. “I whirled back around and saw her standing in the hot oil.” Nafissa grabbed her daughter up out of the oil but it was already too late - Amirah's foot was badly burned. Nafissa brought her daughter to a local healer who gave her some herbs and other remedies. Although the burn healed, Amirah’s toes became fused to the bottom of her foot. “People started to make fun of her,” said Nafissa. "And it really hurt me.”
Nafissa looked for medical help, but Amirah’s father had just died, and they couldn’t afford treatment. But during one of CURE Niger’s recent outreachs, Nafissa encountered some of our nurses on the street. “They said they could help, so we came here,” she said. Now Amirah will receive free surgery and with time her foot will heal properly. Her toes will be there to help balance her, and she’ll be able to grow up walking normally!
Latest Updates
Amirah's foot is fully healed and she has recovered full motion on her toes. After two months of recovery at home, Amirah is back at the hospital this morning for a follow-up in her own unique fashion style! Amirah is very thankful for your prayers!
Amirah is back for another bandage change and some physical therapy - her foot is healing pretty well, and it's easy to see she's feeling more and more comfortable getting around. Pray for her full recovery.
This morning Nafissa did her best to cheer up Amirah after her bandage change. "She had a hard time," said Nafissa, pointing to the tears on her daughter's cheeks. "They took out some of the staples from surgery, and it hurt." It's a good sign that Amirah's wound has healed enough to remove the staples, but it's still wasn't an easy morning - we're grateful for parents like Nafissa who help their kids through it all.
