Mariama is a little ball of giggles who refuses to sit still and she's been this way since she was born. Unfortunately, this playful nature is what got her in trouble when she was only seven months old. She was playing around the family's cooking fire when she toppled over and badly burned her left arm. With time, her burns did heal, but in a way where the melted skin reformed into a constricting flap of skin over her elbow. This flap restricts the movement of her elbow and doesn't give her arm the range of motion most of us are blessed to have. Thankfully, just a few weeks ago someone who knew about us here at CURE Niger saw Mariama on the street and told her mom that CURE treats conditions just like Mariama's! Wasting no time, Mariama was brought here to us and has been admitted for surgery! We can't wait to see her smile get even bigger once she's received her surgery and regained full use of her arm!
