"He can do everything, we just want him to be presentable" said Soumana's brother Oumarou with all seriousness. Djibo is a five year old that leads a normal Fulani life except for the fact that he has knocked knees. He was born with the condition, but since he was not born in a hospital and his family had never seen anything like it, they did not look for help. He does all of his duties with this condition. Everyday he is expected to go out into the wilderness with kids his age to herd the family cattle. Life went on this way, until a new family moved to their village. The family had a boy that had had a condition that was treated at CURE Niger. They told Djibo's family that this is a curable condition. Djibo then came here to CURE Niger, and we are so happy for him to begin his healing journey!

Djibo came in today for a doctors appointment! The doctors got him an x-ray and when it came back they saw that one of the pins in his leg had bent. Luckily, the bone is healed well and can support itself bent pin or no. The doctors were able to remove the bent pin rather easily and our little man is on his way again! Photo of Djibo

Our physical therapy team hooked Djibo up with a walker and he was practicing around the hospital today! Once he got the hang of it, the doctors told him that he's been cleared and can go home! It's an understatement to say that today was a good day. He'll be back in a few weeks to check up on how leg number two is healing up. Please be praying with us that it goes just as drama free as leg number one! Photo of Djibo

Djibo had his surgery today. Knocked knees is often from lack of vitamin D, also known as Rickets. Everything went well, the surgical team performed a procedure called "guided growth", where they chip part of the bone so they can guide how it grows. Pray for him as he recovers. Photo of Djibo

Djibo is here at CURE Niger. We are so glad he is here! Even though he only speaks Fulani he understands "Photo". He believes pictures are meant to be serious hence his straight face. Pray for him as he heads into surgery! Photo of Djibo
