CURE in Malawi
The picture above is of CURE in Malawi. Everyone who serves with CURE in Malawi, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Ishmael. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.
We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Ishmael. When you give a gift through Ishmael's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Malawi. Have more questions? Ask us.
Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!
When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Ishmael. We call it being a CURE Hero!
Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

"I gave up the thought of finding help for my son. There is an old man in our village who has never received help. We have never seen the healing of a condition like this in our area," Catherine, Ishmael's mother, told us. Ishmael was born well. But when he was two years old, his legs developed a condition called knock-knees where they bend inwards causing his knees to "knock" into each other. Ishmael feels so much pain when he walks. Every time he goes to school, the other kids make fun of him and he runs back home. "The other kids say my legs are not normal and I do not want to go back to school," Ishmael's would complain to his mother every day. The first time Ishmael was taken to the hospital was the time his village announced that our CURE Children's Hospital of Malawi medical team would be screening children at a nearby hospital. Catherine wanted to give it us a try and that try brought them here to our hospital!
"I have never had as much hope as I have had in the days since I met the CURE doctors! I know Ishmael will be healed and he will be well! I am happy that I trusted the inner voice," Catherine rejoiced!
Ishmael loves to play with soccer balls, but lately, the pain has been too much. As Ishmael is here for his surgery, we believe the healing that he will receive will bring his ball back to his feet and a future back in school! Please join us to support and pray for Ishmael as he is receiving treatment here at CURE Children's Hospital of Malawi!
Latest Updates
Ishmael has gone home temporarily. He will be back at CURE Malawi in a few weeks to get the pins removed! Please keep Ishmael in your prayers for smooth healing and a safe journey home!
Ishmael's operation was successful! Thank you for taking the time to pray for him. Today, when we visited him with our medical team, we found that Ishmael is recovering very well! Please send your love and get-well messages to Ishmael!
Good news! Ishmael's fever is gone and, as we speak, he is in the surgery room! Thank you so much for the miracle prayers that you are sending for him! Our CURE Malawi surgeons took Ishmael into the OR and corrected his legs by installing growth pins which stop the growth of the inner side of his legs, letting the outer side grow and slowly straightening his legs! In a few months, Ishmael's legs will have corrected themselves and then he will have to get those pins removed! As he will be on the recovery ward soon, please keep Ishmael in your prayers.
