"Life has not been easy for Maxwell. He tells us how much it hurts him, but we didn't know what we could do to help him" Maxwell's aunt Flora tell us.

Maxwell was born with what his family describe as weak bones which have resulted in severely deformed legs. While Maxwell has learned to get around, goes out to play with his friends, and even walks to school, he lives in constant pain from the odd angles of his legs. To help minimize the pain just a little, he uses a home made walking stick to assist him on the long walk both too and from school.

"Though some of the kids look at me like a strange, I just walk by not minding them," Maxwell says exhibiting a surprising level of maturity. Unfortunately, as Maxwell is growing, his condition is getting worse and worse. His family fears he may not be able to walk at all in just a few years. This fear propelled them to double their efforts to find him healing. After years of searching, they were finally rewarded when a local doctor told them about us here at CURE Malawi!

Now that Maxwell is here, our team will help to straighten his legs and get him on feet that will last a lifetime!

Maxwell got to go home over the weekend! He will be back at the beginning of July for his check up. We'll miss him while he's gone for this long, but we can't wait to see him again. Please remember him in your prayers for a quick recovery as he heals up at home!

Since both Maxwell's legs are healing, he's stuck on bed rest for the moment and not allowed to move around. Other than feeling a little trapped, he's doing really well. Just look how much straighter those legs already look! Thank you to all you who are joining in sending your prayers and support to help Maxwell. Photo of Maxwell

Maxwell's surgery was a success as our CURE Malawi doctors made the call to do both his legs at once. They were able to realign his lower leg bone, put in some pins to hold everything in place while he heals, and then wrapped his leg up in some big old bandages. Maxwell did great throughout the entire procedure and we really appreciate all your prayers! Photo of Maxwell
