“I really want to be a teacher so that I can encourage those who think they cannot achieve,” Caroline said.

We believe Caroline will do amazing things to positively impact her community with her ambition. However, Caroline's bowed legs have slowed down her pace a bit and become a hindrance for her. She was not taken to the hospital when they first noticed the deformity. So, she has waited a long time for help! Caroline is in grade two, and she feels a lot of pain when she walks. Finally, she was taken to her local hospital where she met doctors from CURE that would be able to help her.

“If Carolina receives the treatment, I believe she can be a great teacher! She has been telling me how she really desires to be like her teachers at school,” said Ilesi, Caroline’s Auntie.

Caroline is back at the hospital being reviewed by the doctors to see when the next procedure will be for her leg. She had a wire pulled out of her left leg this morning during ward rounds and was such a little champ! She was very fearful and had a few tears about the idea of the wire coming out, but once it did, she was so happy and we were all so proud. The doctors plan on removing Caroline's 8-plate in her right leg soon, but are waiting for a bit more correction before they take her back into the operating room. Thanks for keeping Caroline in your prayers! Photo of Caroline

Caroline is recovering even better than expected from her intense operation yesterday, but as usual, is still super serious! The doctors reviewed her this morning and said that she will probably be able to go home this weekend since she is recovering so well. Caroline will not be weight bearing yet, but is excited to be using a wheelchair until she can. Please keep Caroline in your prayers as she continues healing! Photo of Caroline

Caroline is having her first operation today and it's going to be a long one! Her surgery will take at least four hours. The doctors almost canceled her again this morning, but found a way to make sure her operation was scheduled and happening today since she has been waiting so patiently. Caroline will have an osteotomy, cutting of the bone and bone graft from her hip on her left leg and 8-plates put in on her right. This procedure will be intense, but correct the deformity in Caroline's legs so they can begin straightening. Please keep Caroline in your prayers while she's in the operating room! Caroline was supposed to have her first operation today, but she ended up having it canceled due to scheduling. She is planning on an operation yet this week, but the doctors are still arranging the plans. Meanwhile, she's loving the playroom where she is making new friends, singing songs, and learning Bible stories. We are happy Caroline is enjoying her time in the hospital and looking forward to witnessing her healing! Photo of Caroline
