“Hearing Tadala called an animal just because she has melted fingers really hurt even me. I could not bear it any more,” said Eflida, Tadala's Grandmother.

Tadala was born with a deformity on her left hand where her fingers are all stuck together. They have gone to their local hospital many times seeking help, but each time they are merely told to wait. As they have done just this, life has gotten harder for Tadala. The other children at her school have become more aware of her disability with age and use it to make her feel inferior. They call her names like "the animal." The emotional stress makes it hard for Tadala to focus on her schoolwork and, after more than a few fights, she has found herself more and more ostracized from her peers.

Finally giving up hope in their local hospital, Tadala's family took her to another community clinic where a staff member was able to tell them about us here at CURE Malawi. “I could see my hopes rising again!” Eflida remembers with glee.

We thank God for opening a door to Tadala to see her life transformed through surgery. Please join us in prayers and support, as we will be with Tadala and her grandmother here at CURE Malawi!

Tadala is heading home, but before leaving, she enjoyed her TV time one last time. The doctors planned on keeping her longer since she's from so far away, but they aren't ready to do her second procedure quite yet, and think it would be best for her to continue bandage changes at her local clinic and then come back to CURE Malawi at a later date. The doctors are planning on completing her next operation in 2020, so please continue to keep her in your prayers while she heals at home! Photo of Tadala

Tadala is hanging out in her favorite spot today ... the playroom! She's still enjoying her everyday play at the hospital along with her daily wound inspections. Since Tadala lives over four hours away from CURE Malawi and it was a complicated operation, she'll be here for a while continuing wound inspections to make sure nothing gets infected. We love having her around and are praying and looking forward to her full healing! Photo of Tadala

Tadala is full of smiles and giggles this morning. She's still continuing her wound dressings and care in the ward and patiently waiting to go home. Tadala is still full of energy and loves playing at the hospital with old and new friends every week. Her mom on the other hand is becoming a bit exhausted and homesick. Please keep both Tadala and her mom in your prayers as they continue to persevere for the healing of Tadala's hand! Photo of Tadala

Tadala had a great day in playroom today. "My favorite part when I come in here is when the teacher asks us to share with them the verse in my heart!" Tadala enjoys Bible stories and singing! Today they have been doing a lot of singing and it was so beautiful. Please continue praying for Tadala as she is still here waiting for the doctors to check out her wound next week! Photo of Tadala

"Take my picture, take my picture!" Tadala is all about the camera and her serious poses. Today she plans to follow the camera around for more pictures and will also be having a wound inspection in the ward. She really loves the hospital, but misses home and hopes to go back soon. Let's pray the wound inspection goes well, so Tadala can be back with her family very soon! Photo of Tadala

Tadala is recovering well from her operation. This morning she was in a lot of pain, but after taking some medicine, she began to feel much better and gave us a smile! Tadala is looking forward to playing with balloons tomorrow since it'll be Friday! She LOVES balloons and we are excited to see her healing happily. Please continue to keep Tadala in your prayers as she continues recovering! Photo of Tadala

Tadala is in the operation room for her first surgery! The surgeons are releasing both her thumb and her pinky finger. They can't release all her fingers in one procedure as it could be dangerous, so she'll need a few more operations in the future. Tadala was a little nervous before entering the operating room, so please keep her in your prayers today as she undergoes surgery and has a smooth recovery. Photo of Tadala

Tadala was being assessed by our physical therapy team this afternoon and had a fun conversation with our physical therapist Shadreck while blowing her balloon.

Shadreck: "What do you want to be when you're older?"

Tadala: "I want to work at a hospital!"

Shadreck: "Wow, well there are many things you can do at the hospital. What do you want to do?"

Tadala: "Hmmm, I want to be the one operating on people!"

Shadreck: "Oh, so the surgeon?"

Tadala: "Yes, the surgeon!"

We love having Tadala here with us at CURE Malawi and her aspiring heart. We hope our hospital keeps her dreams alive of becoming a surgeon one day. Please keep Tadala in your prayers as she prepares to have her first operation next week! Photo of Tadala

Meet Tadala! She just came in to CURE Malawi this week. We first met her at our CURE clinic near her home five hours away! She told us she traveled all the way here just yesterday for her treatment. Tadala will be having her first operation this week where the surgeons will begin the process of releasing her fingers. Please keep her in your prayers as she patiently awaits her surgery!
