“I took my grandmother to our local hospital, and the doctors said I need help too. I told them 'It is my grandmother who is ill not me!' But the doctor kept saying 'See me after you have finished with your grandmother.' ” Shezaad shared with us, remembering the persistent chat that started his journey to healing. Shezaad’s grandmother was treated and when Shezaad went over to the doctor’s office, he learned that the bone defect he has lived his entire life with is actually treatable with surgery! The doctors told him about one of our CURE Malawi mobile clinics that would be taking place at the same hospital shortly. Shezaad returned for our mobile clinic and was promptly scheduled for surgery!
"When I am at school, my classmates often say some annoying things like how funny my hand looks. This hurts, and sometimes I skip school just so I don't have to put up with their comments." Shezaad says. Shezaad would love to be architecture engineer and fixing his hand would get him one step closer to making this dream a reality. Please help us to pray and support Shezaad and his mother Ellen as they are here at CURE Malawi with us!
Shezaad has been discharged! He's been recovering well and while he doesn't show it, he's excited to go home. We plan to see him again in February 2020 at our mobile clinic near his home. Please keep him in your prayers, that he and his mom travel home safely!
Shezaad had his first operation! The surgeons did an osteotomy, where they cut the bone to realign it, and inserted k-wires to hold it in place! Please continue to keep Shezaad in your prayers while he recovers!
Welcome Shezaad! Shezaad is here at CURE Malawi for his right arm deformity. Our CURE doctors have booked him to go for his operation this week and we are so excited Ellen, his mother, has brought her son here for help. Shezaad is in grade nine and we believe this will operation will transform Shezaad's life as he complains about pain when working. Please help us to welcome and pray for Shezaad and his mother Ellen!
