“We are the happiest parents ever to have twin boys! Loti and Labani are such an amazing children God blessed us with and we are so grateful for Labani and Loti,” Davie, their father, told us proudly.
Loti and Labani are two rambunctious boys who were born just like every other child. Their problems didn't wait long to appear though. When the twins were just 17 months old, their legs began to bow outwards. Unsure what to do, David took his sons to a local hospital where he was told he should return in a year. As the boys began to walk more and talk, they would complain of pain due to their deformed legs and they had to be held back from starting school. Every time David would return to the hospital, they always told him to come back the next week. He would wait. He would return. And when he would remind them about his appointment, he was always turned away.
"I became hopeless and I thought we cannot find help for Loti and Labani." David shared.
Thankfully, a doctor told them about us here at CURE Malawi and that we were going to have a mobile clinic in their town. Our doctors saw both Loti and Labani and we were able to tell David that we can indeed help! The twins were scheduled for surgery and their healing journey had begun!
"As a father, I kept remembering how the previous hospital has been letting us down. CURE Malawi is totally different with how they welcome and care for us. We attend prayer devotions everyday and this has really helped our faith and my family feels loved. We will always remember CURE and this is the place children need to be taken to if they have such conditions because they have an outstanding care, love, and support,” David finishes as he begins to dream of a future free of bow legs for his sons.

Labani has had his surgery! The doctors installed two 8-plates, one in each leg. The idea of these devices is that they will help guide how Labani's legs grow from here on out. They way they were installed in his bones will slow down the bones that are too long and allow the bones that are too short to grow normally and catch up. This way, his legs will straighten themselves out. This little man is currently in two big leg casts and resting up in bed! Photo of Labani

Meet Labani! He is so excited to be at CURE Malawi and he came with his twin brother, Loti! They both have bowed legs and will be having their first operations soon. Loti is first on the list and Labani will be right behind him. Labani has a very spunky personality, while Loti is much more shy. The two of them are the best of friends. Please keep the boys in your prayers as they head into the operating room! Photo of Labani
