CURE in Kenya

The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Witness. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Witness. When you give a gift through Witness's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Witness. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“I was so shocked to see my son’s feet curved like that!” Witness's mother Grace shared with us.

Imagine a mother, recovering after a cesarean section, eagerly waiting to meet her newborn child. Imagine the anxiety, the excitement, the suspense. Imagine the relief when this mother finally meets her newborn child for the first time ever. Imagine the tears of joy when she finally gets to hold her child in her arms. Then, the nurse who hands over the baby says, while pointing to the child’s feet, “Your child was born with a deformity, a condition known as clubfoot.” This is the story of a mom who had never seen a child with clubfoot before and her child which she declared a blessing.

Meet Witness, a 6-year-old boy who is Grace’s second blessing. Witness was born with clubfoot on both feet. When Witness was born, Grace was reassured that her son’s condition could be treated. We can only imagine all the mixed feelings she had.

Witness started the ponsetti method of clubfoot treatment immediately, and they have done this faithfully up until he was five-years-old. Unfortunately, his feet were not completely corrected. They were told that it would be difficult to use ponsetti method to continue to correct his clubfoot after the age of five. They were told to visit a location where CURE Kenya holds mobile clinics to find further treatment. At the CURE mobile clinic, Grace was told that her son would need surgery.

Now, Grace is at CURE Kenya with her son waiting to witness a miracle, and we pray that that can happen here.

We are grateful to God today because Witness looks bright, and he is even willing to hold a conversation. His mom told us that his cast had to be split again because it was causing him some pain and that one of the chaplains spent some time encouraging her. They also prayed together. Grace is born again and is trusting God for total healing for her son. Please thank God for all the good things He is doing in Witness’ life. Photo of Witness

Nurse Arthur was called upon by Grace to help find out why Witness was so restless. Arthur found that Witness had not elevated his feet. A cast can cause the accumulation of pressure where the surgery was done. This pressure creates pain. Arthur showed Grace how to elevate her son’s feet using a pillow, and this helped relieve Witness’ pain a bit. A member of our spiritual team followed up with Grace to encourage her since she was a bit stressed by the whole situation. Please keep Grace and Witness in your prayers. Photo of Witness

Witness’ surgery was successful! His mother gave the doctors the go-ahead to operate on both of his feet. That is why you can see four surgeons and a surgical tech working in this picture. Because he had both feet operated on at the same time, Witness will have a shorter total recovery time. It normally takes about three months for one foot to heal completely. Since Witness needed both feet operated on, he was looking at 6 months of recovery time. This would have meant six months of planning visits to the main hospital for checkups, as well. By operating on both his feet at the same time, Witness will only wait 3 months to heal, and we are excited for him about that! Thank you for your prayers for Witness! Photo of Witness

Witness is a happy kid who likes playing with others and playing games on his mom’s phone. He has gotten in trouble before for dropping his mom’s phone and breaking the screen. He is cheeky and it’s possible that he makes such cute faces to get away with things. Please pray for Witness as he waits to go to the operating room for clubfoot surgery? Photo of Witness
